How do I edit my CP options?

Everytime I hit "Edit Options" in the "User CP", it says:
Code:
hcaulfield57, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
Why is it doing this? I also can't edit my details in the CP as well.

Okay, I think I've figured it out. If under your username it says you can only post in the New Member Section you can't edit these options. No idea why. But my profile now says "Junior Member", and I can click on those options. So I guess it's some sort of permissions issue. Strange.

Same here. But is seems to be related to the number of posts.

I'm pretty confident that making 10 posts will allow you to edit your information. That's what gets you out of the "new member" section and into the real world.

Why does one need to go ahead and make 10 posts just to be able to use the forum?

I believe that’s what the Admin told me. You have to engage or post on 10 things/threads in order to get full access to your site. ie, classifieds, other sections, etc.

it makes sense. It makes you become connected Vs just coming in taking what you need and never coming back to the site.

what is wrong with "taking what you need"? eg for-sale. members post what they have, they want a wide audience. that should include noobs (like me). denying that until you post 10 posts ... and then never coming back ... achieves nothing except for this part of the forum being filled with threads about why can't i post or view certain sections!

just my 0.02, mods or long time members don't take any offense ... i'm not getting holier than thou, just expressing my feedback on the restriction.
