contact PMs

first off, not sure where to post this but this seemed like the best place. second, i'm not a moderator or admin, just a vendor for clarification.

some of the vets tend to answer a lot of questions on the forum, myself included. but i would like to ask personally that you keep technical questions on the forum only unless a prior or potential new customer asking about a service or product or work that has or will be done.

i mention it because i know i have neglected and even forgotten to get back to potential customers due to various technical questions i answer in PMs to people. the opposite is in fact true, vendors pay to be able to advertise and potential business is the point of that.

so in my case please keep that in mind, i don't want to start simply deleting PMs and making people feel like i don't care but business is business. i always try to go back over any thread i answer a question or comment on.

Thanks,
-Ben

This is not really an Admin or Club issue though Ben.It is your Pm box.
You may want to change the signature you have to reflect your wishes. We appreciate the insight and knowledge you give out to members on the forum but after they Pm you it is out of our hands.
I hope you find a viable solution,as any business is good business now-a-days.Good luck.

i know it's nothing to do with the website, i'm just trying to divert technical traffic away from my PMs because it can be difficult keeping track of everything. a search function of PMs might be a nifty tool but i don't want to ask just for the exception.

i just would like people to post in their threads or make their own threads, there is others out there who can answer the same questions also.

searching back through 150 PMs from a single week at times to dig up a shipping address for example, too much time wasted. eventually i have to clear it all out manually as well. i know i should just keep a notepad by my computers..

I feel you on the Searching Pm's,and Yes I wish they had a "search function" built just for Pm's alone, but I think that would be too technical.
But at the same time, you are a business that provides the vital service for the very Substance of this Forum. The heart of the car itself. The engine.
I know that guys are going to be flocking at your door with more questions than Jay Leno has chins, but honestly if they didn't you would be wondering "what I am doing wrong?".
Your Problem seems to be stemming from your extensive knowledge of the Engine and what you are doing Right!
So is it really a problem at all?..its Fame..you are a rock star!
Now don't forget us little people ok?
