what does this do?

I bought my haltech used and in the box came this little guy

It plugs in to the same port that my laptop does. I was curious does anyone know what its for?

It doesnt plug to the same port as the lappy, its got its own GM weather pack 3 pin connector on it, this is a TRIM CONTROL ****, its used to trim up or down on the fuel, ignition or boost, when connected and configured accordingly.

ya sounds like something i dont need in the car....last thing i would want is someone to mess with it and next thing you know i am running super lean.

its extremley usefull as a tuning and test aid and can be used to adjust boost, manualy control an idle motor or bac, figure out the best frequency for a pwm valve and for many other worthy things.

Its not an automatic fuel trim, thats something that has to be configured.

oh ok...well I guess i will keep it around and let my tuner decide if he wants to use it or not.
