I apologize for the gross ignorance, but bear with me. Can I load a map to the ECU without it being powered and in the car?

 

It doesn't have to be installed in the car, but it does need power.... Why would you need to load a map into an ECU that is not installed??

 

Thanks. I've got a buddy who's trying to get his car together (including the newly wired/installed Haltech) for the STL tuning session this weekend. Steve Kan e-mailed him a base map to load and I need to see if I need to bring my laptop by from work or if we can load it from his PC when it's not in the car...

 

The Haltech ECU needs at least the GROUND, POWER, and IGN SWITCHED to be connected for you to upload a map into it.
