USB ==> Serial Converter okay to tune Haltech f9?

I may be getting a turboII motor thats controlled by a haltech f9 computer.

however, my laptop (sony v505bx) does not have a serial port, just like most laptops currently. I do have a POS old laptop that i could use, but would a usb to serial converter work to tune it?

probably depends more on the operating system. check threads on XP if your laptop is running this OS. old POS laptop is probably the best laptop for the job.
