Timing ??s

I just got done rebuilding my engine!! I have a E8 with LS-1 coils, 850pri/1300sec, I had it tuned with this setup before the rebuild. I am having a problem getting it started. I need someone to explain how the set the timing?? I just want to get the car running so I can break in the engine before I get it final tuned!! Thanks.

Go through HITman's explanation, easiest way to do it is stabing the CAS according to the Mazda method, or the himan method, trigger angle and tooth offset is set to 65/11 or 65/3. Check with a timing light to see if your marks lineup, vary the trigger angle accordingly. What engine is this? S4/5 or S6?

S6 engine! Also I had a timming light on it yesterday and the mark was about 13 degrees off the right of the mark. When I set it and tryed to start it, it would act like it wanted to start but only if I was giving it gas???????

For Series 6 engines you have to use T1 to look at the timing mark, since its at 20degrees, lock the timing like you normally would at -5, and with the light on T1 you will be able to line them up using trigger angle 65 and tooth offset 5. If you see the mark 180 degrees off your trailing wires are back to front or you need to invert the haltech output wires on them.

But, its my duty to remind you that this topic has been documented plenty and searching would net all the info you need. As well as reading the HITman's stuff.
