Tach won't work with E6K

Guys,

I still need help with this one. I've got all my other gauges working but I can't get this stupid tach to work.

The Haltech will drive a non factory tach. The stock tach shows no reading with the tach wire off of the E6K. With a lead off of the ignitor or the injectors... I get 1/2 of the true reading.

What's the trick?
Do I have to buy an aftermarket tach and replace the stock gauge?

Thanks,

Cheuk

Hey there !

If Mr Son wants me to come over again in September, I might bring a modded board to replace your E6K one. I will get the voltage up a bit on the AuxOut and it should start working.

Same with all the Tiburon's. They need 8V I think instead of 5V.

Have you tried connecting the tacho to the IGNOUT wire of the Haltech just to check if it starts working ? Maybe I can bring over a set of 2nd Gen coils, which have a tacho output anyway.

Matt,

Tried the IGNOUT and the tach works but reads at only 1/2 the actual value.

Getting the Tibby's tachs working would be great. Although that means we can't sell them an aftermarket tach

I will ask about Sept.

IGN out to the leading igniter not trailing.

Do you think by mistake but cut too many wires at the trailing coils. You should only cut 2 at the trailings and only one at the leadings.

I hear that Champion ordered a bunch of E6K's with the 8V tacho output, so maybe try one of these on your car and see if it starts to work. You will have to exchange the RA chips inside the unit because Champions would be for Motronic trigger.
