San Diego area tuner

Anyone know of a good san diego area haltech tuner? I called Speed Machine, and they gave me another number. I guess they don't do any tuning in house. The shop they gave me is booked up 45 days, so I am looking for someone else. Any Ideas?

Colin

There is perfomance EFI who are pretty good. The dyno shop at santee has been around forever and if you want to get a service on your motor home while your at it you can.
If you want to venture up north there is danzio performance who have a good rep also but may cost you both arms and 1 leg....then there is always mechtech who could give you a great job or a really average one depending on what day you end up there.

Thats the choices as i see it.

In order to pay the bucks now you have to have the bucks now. My wife limits how much I can spend on the car.

BTW performance EFI is the shop that speed machine refered me too that is 35 days booked up.

Performacne efi refered me to Danzio but I couldn't get anyone on the phone there.

I called MECHTECH, and spoke to Jim, he seemed to know what he is talking about and they are open all next week so that may be the place.

I would truly love to be able to Hire Claudio, but the price for a ticket + per diam + his rate + dyno time quickly adds up to more than I have put into the project thus far.

I have used Jim at Mechtech before and he does a good job. Sometimes a little hard headed but a good tuner.

Try Danzio again. Between them and EFI, they are the best in the SoCal area. We take all of our cars there between the two, depending on who is open fastest. Danzio is who tuned the Falken FD. No comment on MechTech. We don't have a dyno, or we could help you out. We do basic road tuning, but just so that cars are ok until they can get to the dyno.

I can tell you know Jim. I have not used him again, mainly because it is to far from my shop. He did do a good job on our first car, but I had to force him to use the setup we had.

Well, its a darn shame that the shop you have most access to is so booked, it goes to show you that a good shop with a dyno is still hard to come by. I hope that when i relocate to the US soon, finishline will be equiped with a dyno.

In the mean time if enough time goes by and you still havent been able to tune, give me a call.

Yeah when our lease is up, we are talking about getting either a larger suite, or maybe just another suite int he building we are in and putting a dyno there. God knows we have the need for one!

there are lots of dynos in and around southern california. The problem is most just do HP runs for easy money. They also tend to test the HP after bolting on some new headers and exhausts, so you don't have many shops that can tune any type of standalone ECU's. the last shop I was using that did a great job had there dyno operator and tuner leave, so they have a state of the art dyno but no talent to tune cars. So I welcome anyone who is going to open a shop, and please make in LA so I don't have to tow my car so far.
