Haltech Retaining memory question

Retaining memory question
Question...
Does the haltech retain memory if the battery is unplugged? I wonder because I have my car awaiting rebuild for the past year, everything is undone. I saved my map on my laptop, while my car was running long ago. Do I need to reload it into the haltech (E6K) before I fire up the rebuild or is it already there? I don't see how it retains any maps (with the exception of a default built in) unless it has power or an internal battery backup. Is this correct?

This is constantly asked time and time again, when you disconnect the battery on your modern computer controlled car, does it loose its programming? no... Haltechs and pretty much all engine management systems are the same way.
If your car behaves differently after having sat with no battery for too long, the problem is outside the box. They have what is called "none volatile memory" which means it will not erase EVER! if its not done electronically. So, sitting in a box for 10 years, yeah, no, it wont loose its programming. Unless of course, you decide to weld on your car or put a battery charger set to high with the ECU still connected which would probably fry a few components in it.
If, however, your engine is different than what it was originally tuned for (which it probably is), there will most certainly be a need to retune it. So bare that in mind.
