please help!!! a/c and sprint re

i have serched and could not find what i am looking for . sprint re does not have aux inputs and i need ac, this is for a 93 fd, car is running fine. i grounded the yellow black wire l1 pin on stockharness and the compresor comes on but no cold air. how can i bypass the ecu to get my ac working with an independed switch? or what wires can i use to fix the problem? i know i am not the only one that have come across this problem . i live in south tx and ac is a must, please some help!!! lol.

I have done such a thing on an FC with a Megasquirt. You can bypass ECU control of the A/C compressor by basically jumpering the two wires that normally control it on the stock ECU. There's one that comes from the logicon to the ECU and one that goes from the ECU to actually control the compressor. See the FD wiring diagrams.

HOWEVER I think you made a mistake buying the Sprint RE. It's the budget Haltech for basic setups. You should have gone with a Platinum Sport or bought a PFC instead. Without ECU control + an idle air control (ISC/BAC) valve you have no idle up when the A/C kicks on. Your engine could easily stall unless you raise the idle speed higher at all times. And then the compressor will never cut off based on rpm or throttle position; you'll have to manually press the button or risk compressor damage.

If you get the A/C working by bypassing ECU control ultimately you will not be happy with it.

Yes I realized that the sprint re did not have an aux input until it was intalled. Are you talking about the violet and the the black yellow wires together ? I think it's 1l and 1e pins? Thank you for the answer you always help. I am glad we have members like you in the forums.

yep. 1L and 1e , except the colors are violet and the 1L is black yellow on the manual harness. also the can i/o for haltech is out, to be able to add inputs and outputs to the sprint re or any other platinum ecu. i am doing the temporary bypass to fix my ac and will be ordering the can i/o form haltech. thank you very much for the help just needed reassuransed on what i was doing.

Nice. It's good to see aftermarket systems finally using CAN stuff more and more, seeing how the OEM's have had them in production cars for over a decade. I would recommend you install your BAC/ISC valve and control it off the Haltech. There are specific A/C related settings for it; you set a higher target idle speed and a higher solenoid duty.

Like I said, I've done it on an FC and I don't see why it would be any different. So I'm pretty confident it will work.
