Not seeing e11v2 in halwin

My computers are not seeing the haltech when I plug in the serial port to the laptop, but I have the ECU plugged in, powered up, checked grounds and connectivity. Please help me, as I'm still in so far over my head it's embarassing.

Just select a proper comport in program setup. U must check than selected comport is free from other applications.
Do you use USB adapter?

yeah, I'm using usb to serial adapter for the laptop, the Belkin brand one, and I'm running the proper com port (#4 in this case). Anyways, I finally hooked up the gray wire to the ignition switch so that it trips the main power relay, so NOW the ECU is getting power (verified with volt-ohm meter), only problem is that when I select "switch mode" in halwin, it just stays saying haltech disconnected. Any ideas?

Yeah, your adapter, i know of very few people that have a working relationship with their Belkin and Haltech. I aways use Keyspan, never fails. But, then again, are you running XP Home, Pro, SP1, SP2? what software version are you using, etc.?

For detailed troubleshooting of a "no comms" issue, please read through this thread.

It contains pretty much all the possible reasons for not communicating with a Haltech.

Okay, I got it all fixed now (and people ask weird questions when you have a desktop computer in your driveway). Now the problem is that the CAS works perfectly fine outside of the car, but when in the car, while cranking, it doesn't spin fast enough to read. This is the last thing to check as I know I'm getting spark, I can hear the fuel injectors firing, and the ECU is reading just fine.

I also need this done soon, as tomorrow is the last day that I can get in to get it tuned before I have to get back to work, as the shop says that they're all booked up this weekend, and I'm still trying to get up to road america this weekend for the Kohler International Challenge, which I'm crewing 4 cars.
