not the normal e6x problem
I have a e6x been running for over 2 years now. Just got the new motor in and have been working on tuning it. And this is where it gets strange, I was getting ready for a drive and went online to upload so new maps, so I had the ignition on motor not running, decided to hold off on driving so unhooked the cord before to my computer before going offline e6x still had power. My computer goes crazy and has this warning box pop up and just keeps clicking and adding new boxes to the point it locks up the computer and I have to restart it. I had the car about half way out of the garage so I needed to move it forward. I tried to crank it and had a pop and both the fuel and computer relays start poping and humming, continue this every time I turn on the ignition. I think I it from running dual pumps so I'm off to get new relays and stuff to run seperate relays for each pump. disconect one pump and add new relays and nothing, Check my voltages and the were correct, so I jumped the main relay fuel pump kicked on and I was finally able to get the computer to go back online. installed the original relays and now everything is working fine or so it seems so far, but after going off line my computer did the error box again and froze up. Any ideas what might be going on or has anyone else every had this happen?
The only other problem I had was when I first tuned it the car died on the dyno and would not restart and the e6x was extremely hot, i mounted it in the stock location on the TII, took it out let it cool and the car fired back up and hasn't been a problem since.
Thanks for the help.
And because someone will ask:

My laptop will do this too. Its battery won't hold a charge so I have to keep it plugged in all the time. I've accidentely knocked the power cord off a few times while online and it will bring up something like 115 warning boxes for about thirty seconds but then they delete themselves and I just plug the power cord back in and go back online.

My E6X does that wild buggy **** with the windows too if I disconnect the USB cord while Halwin is still running. I generally do a quick ctrl+alt+del and end the error boxes before 500+ of them show up. It will also do it if I'm making map changes and it goes offline for some reason (to load them I guess) then I click or touch anything before it kicks back online and the changes are confirmed.
I've never had the ECU do strange things after though, its only been the software/laptop. But did you disconnect it while loading a map? (if I'm reading that correctly)

No not loading a map or anything just had it ready for a little drive and tune with a buddy and decide not to go and pulled out the usb from my computer without going offline first. I put about 130 miles on it today and it kept blowing the circut breaker that is solely for the haltech, from the battery source, I also took the fuel pumps out the equation, they are now individually wired to the battery with seperate switches not run through the haltech and I rmoved the relay in the harness. At the half way point at my Sisters I grabed a couple of tools and rewired the Haltech to another unused switch with the same circut breaker setup and had no problems since. Hope the bug is gone for good or so back up so I can take care of it before I go to the dyno on Tuesday hopefuly another 4-500 miles by then should work out any weird bugs.
