I know that it says 4 injector outputs, but does that mean it can only handle 4 injectors?

I'm thinking here.

Think they mean 4 injector drivers.

So it's just like most of their units (can drive more than 4).

The rub, just like it says on the info sheet, is that the injector drivers are low output and will not be able to directly support low impedance injectors. You will need to either use resistors ( a bad choice IMO) or use an external driver box along with the Sprint 500 to support low impedance injectors. As the spec sheet states the max load is 8 ohms per channel.

What if you can't mount the ECU near the manifold for a good short source for MAP? Say you want to put the ECU in the stock location, you'd be running a long vacuum line. Will it still be efficient this way?

I really have no experience, but i've read the vacuum line should be as short as possible. But if it works it works!

Ludwig or Claudio, any info on these? I was thinking I'd stick with my e11v2 for my 20B, but a rotary specific platinum that supports it might just cause me to come out of pocket.

the platinums have a new graphic tuning interface and datalog viewing and such. I don't know the details, but I still think I want one.

Got some more info today.

The Sprint 500 is not going to be rotary compatible. There will be a Sprint RE forthcoming. I was told around SEMA but that's a pretty common quote.

The Sport RE is not finalized yet but look for it near the end of the year. Things to watch for are the possibility of Renesis trigger support and 3rd stage injection. No definites on number of inputs and outputs relative the Sport 1000 or 2000.

I called haltech today to ask what is so special about the rotary EMS. IE what set it apart from buying the Sport 1000. I would need the sport 2000 regardless because I need the outputs and inputs.

Anyhow no info really from Haltech US. Just that it will probable be like the sport 1000 and maybe even come with a custom harness? Can't say for sure. Supposed to get some email for new info.

I wonder if it will come with base maps that would closely reflect the stock maps?

So is this the E6X replacement? Do the Sprints have CAN output? I want to know if you can hook up a Racepak datalogger and dash combo.

From the pictures ive seen of the unit and the beta units at Haltech HQ, and the beta base maps, it does have the CAN connector on the side of it there, and the feature in the software so i think it does.

Spec sheet says CAN port. However, the number of inputs and outputs are limited. So, if interfacing with a dash, you'd be limited to what the ECU is seeing for display on the dash.

While it is a bit disappointing that Haltech couldn't include a high output injector driver it is nice knowing the selection of injectors in the high impedance line is growing and the injectors that are available are pretty darn good. If you're planning a system from scratch it would be hard to go wrong with the newer high impedance injectors.

It can, but you will need to add a resistor in line to bring the total impedance per channel to greater than 8 ohms.

Funny Haltech said it didn't matter with my E8. I am running Ford 1600cc injectors approx 4ohms and stock S4 injectors approx 14ohms.

IS this only a sprint ecu issue that you can't mix?

The Sprint Series is limited to high impedance injectors (>8 ohms). All other Haltech ECUs can use any injector impedance, including mixing different impedance injectors on primary and secondary.

Hey guys,

Some info on the new Sprint RE. Mainly the diff between this and the Sprint 500 is that the 500 is piston only, the RE is rotary only. The specs on them are virtually the same, only diff is the trigger options.

Both Sprint units will ONLY be able to run high imp. injectors per output, Haltech will have available a balast resistor box that will be reasonably priced, on the other hand you can always use the OEM 2nd gen resistor box and just wire it up. FYI, Haltech is stocking 630 and 900 cc high imp. injectors.

Both units do have the CAN output to be able to connect them to the AIM or Racepak dashes.

Both units have the onboard 22psi map sensor, and are capable of handling up 7bar sensors, how ever, BOTH Sprint units ONLY have 16x16 adjustable resolution.

They are NOT E6X replacements, but more affordable units. Unlike the E6X, they cant run Stepper motors, and outputs are limited to:

- 2x generic duty outputs, configurable to anything that needs to be turned ON or OFF, and as simple duty cycle control.
- 1x dedicated thermofan output
- 1x dedicated tacho output

As far as inputs go:

- 1x dedicated speed sensor input
- 1x dedicated O2 sensor input (wideband and narrowband)
- 1x dedicated Aux. RPM Limiter

Thats it, its the same for both sprint units.

If you have a 20B, you will only be able to run it with the Sport 2000.

Finally, idle control on the sprint is a very simplified duty vs. temperature and rpm table. Same goes for boost control, there's only a simple generic rpm vs duty table to do boost control.

I hope ive cleared most of the questions that have been thrown around on this thread. If you have any doubts post them. Haltech is fully stocked on Sprint units, both 500 and RE editions.

Also, on a side note, they now have the newly released fully terminated harness option for 13B motors for use with the sport 1000, these harnesses are all done up to length, heat shrink wrapped with all necessary connectors on hand, there are 2 options for coils, either LS1's or M&W CDI ignition. Now these kits are ment to be sold as part of a whole kit that would include ECU+terminated harness+coils (or CDI). Contact your nearest Haltech dealer for availability and pricing.

If there are any other questions, please let us know!
