The haltech that I got was originally set up by cobb tuning for a subaru wrx.

everything is the same and will work,

there is a dial attached close to the haltech on the loom,

at first I thought it was the TPS, but then I found the TPS in the box. I emailed the guy who sold me it and he says its a ignition timing adjuster or something.

anyways, is there something I could use this for or should I just unplug it and forget it?

You can set the auxiliary input to control several functions. Just as a short list, this includes: fuel adjustment, ignition timing adjustment, boost adjustment - there are others I can't remember right now. You really don't NEED to use it.
