Anybody know which wire the tach gets its signal from on a TII?
I'm gonna need that to work when I replace my stock coils.

Not to thread jack but I have a set of The coils on the far left with plug wires.. I'll let them go pretty cheap if anyone wants them..

It's the yellow black wire that joins at the trailing coils. We'll get you taken care of with your new harness.

(I don't know things) I got confused reading the user guide for my PS1000. I thought it said to never wire the haltech straight to the coils, but the LS2 coil has a built in ignitor...

In an FD do I keep the stock ignitor when using LS2 coils, or do I wire the coils straight from the haltech? Thanks.

Straight to the Haltech. You can remove the stock ignitor all together.

Get the truck coils (the ones on the right). There was a substantial difference in the power of the 2.

part number please? Are they part number d585?

Am i going to see much difference in a 320-350 hp max setup? Those seems to be 3 times the price per coil.

Is there any way to test these coils if they're working properly? I'm getting some misfire at idle up to about 2,500-3000rpms and I suspect the coils. I don't have any extras and no one here has them. Thanks

Maybe someone else has a good idea, but I don't. Other than cranking the engine with the plugs out, but that really doesn't tell you much about what's going on internally.

That's an odd range for a misfire. I'd guess a trigger issue or it's running too rich.

thank you.
My coils are toast, 5 years of racing and they won't keep my plug warm enough to not foul.
trying to decided where to go.

The LS1 are not that great. A switch to the LS truck coil would be easiest for you. I've had real good luck with those.

i'm concerned with using the truck coils as they require a longer charge time then the mercury IGN-1A, especially with waste spark

IMO the IGN-1A coils are the best choice, for sure. I didn't realize you were running them in wastespark. Guess I assumed you were running direct-fire and that the truck coils would be a snap in swap. What ECU are you using?

If you need a set of the IGN-1A, let me know.

so i had a very up and down weekend. realizing that my coils were worn out i swapped in the factory leading coils hoping i could lower my egt with a better burn. i ended up. recovering most of my lost power this year and was loving it.

down side is that i was now making way too much power for the softer "low hp" suspension set up and an early morning greasy track helped me spin my car into concrete wall.

and this being the last year of our local track, i'm going to take a leave of absence from the racing scene, pay off some debt and in a year or two come back with something new.

I would also now recommend factory leading and IGN-1A trailing coils for anyone on a E6 haltech.

The best way to test these coils is to use an HEI spark/ignition tester tool. It is designed to impart a specific load on the ignition coil that stresses it into a pass/fail spark mode.

http://www.amazon.com/KD-Tools-2756-.../dp/B0002STSBC (HEI version shown on the right, standard version on the left)

This was originally a GM factory tool, but a number of tool companies offer it. Be sure to get the HEI version (cannot see center electrode) and not the standard ignition version (center electrode protrudes from the ceramic like a regular sparkplug). If you get an intermittent or no spark there is an issue.

http://easyautodiagnostics.com/HEI-S...k_tester_1.php

It is not a spark plug and every training manual recommends not using a regular plug because it will not impart the specific load required to test the coil properly.
