Question Lot's of Haltech Newbie Q's

You guys must get sick of hearing the same questions, so I apologize up front for this. If anyone can point me to an archive or FAQ please let me know.

I've decided to go Haltech on my car for a few reasons, one I'm doing an auto-5spd swap so I need a new wiring harness, and two data logging and laptop tuning turn me on

So my big questions and concerns are what do I lose? EGR? A/C? OMP? I've heard that the TII Mech. OMP can be used instead of premix, is this true? Anything else lost, probably emissions stuff? My long term plans include single turbo or non-sequential, but for now I'll probably stay sequential, can the Haltech control that?

Couple of other questions, what do I need to buy? E6K and harness are obvious, what about sensors? Is the boost control built in or is that a seperate module? How good is the boost control, and how does it interact with other stand alone boost controllers?

OK that's it I think. TIA for you help!

PS - I heard on the "big list" that there is a new E6K coming out priced at $750! Any truth to this?

not heard of any price reductions but who knows. most retailers of Haltech sell the whole system ECU, wiring harness(sometimes terminated but not always), with all the sensors needed. if you want the Haltech to control the boost you need a boost solenoid(ask the Haltech rep who you buy it from), you don't need anything but the Haltech to run the motor. you may want the BAC if it is a street car. the OMP from the 87 can be adapted(I don't know how and I would run premix) A/C can be retained but some rewiring maybe needed as well as the stock tach. all the extra accessories will need to be rewired if they are to be retained. the Haltech is an engine management system and it runs the engine well, but was not designed to operate and control all the stuff that the stock ECU was controlling

the one you heard about on the "big list" is a normal E6K for sale 2nd hand for $750, try reading the e-mails properly and you'll understand what they are on about.
