interesting problem i had with an e6k install the other day.

hey, this was my first n/a ems...cool!

ok, so everything went fine with the install until i got around to firing it up...fired right up the first time...standard bogs and misfires from fuel map being wrong and timing not zero'd yet.

took me a minute, then i realised i was using the hitman setup...65-24-3. DUHHHH. i'd done so many that way i didn't realise the crank sensor was stabbed factory style. my bad--swapped the tooth offset to 11.

BARELY fired after that...and the haltech displayed rpm's as 1/2 of what they actually were. WTF mate???

so i got all pissed off and thought it was the ecu...went over the connections again for a half hour and all that crap...eveything fine. i ws just about ready to pull it out, when i decided to stab the crank sensor the hitman way...just for ***** n giggles. fired right up--no problems after that. so i buttoned up the job and gave it a rough tune to get the guy home, but why would changing the tooth offset make the haltech read 1/2 rpm's?

car is fine now and we'll be tuning it on tuesday but that problem just has my head spinning.
anyone have input?
thanks
