injector problem

just got the haltech wired thanx to help from yearsofdecay, and when i turn the key to prime the fuel pump the prim injectors will spray a small amount of fuel. They are rebuilt stock 550 prims from RC engineering. Does anyone have any advice, or experienced this problem before. I was able to get the car to start, it just runs super rich at the moment.

Are you using the complete stock ignition system or an MSD or something there abouts? Sometimes there is a small voltage spike in the system when you open the ignition switch an that creates an RPM reading, thus giving that initial spray.

Other reasons for this is probably faulty wiring or missgrounding of the entire engine/ignition/EMS.

We have to do a test on the wires to the injectors... tear your injection system out.. We need to see if there is continuity between the injector and the car with the haltech switched off... ( ie, one of the primary injector wires going to the haltech is grounded out somewhere )

Basically, As I said.. power is always supplied to the injectors while the circuit is on... the haltech simply grounds the injector curcuit, allowing it to fire.. If the wire is grounded out somewhere... its going to be firing weather the haltech tells it to or not...

The other option is that the injector driver is screwed..... lets hope its not that...

We'll also go over all the groundings for the haltech and the rest of the power system

I'm now wondering it this is why the guy you bought the haltech from had the injector loom re-wired like that....

Or if its a problem with the haltech...

However.... since it still happens when we pulled the injector fuse on the haltech box.... I'm thinking not...

Its hard to think that TWO sets of injectors were bad... but I've seen stranger things happen...

BUT.. still looking for possible reasons other than those stated...

Easy check for fuel injectors is to test them with a 9V battery or any of the rechargable battery packs for cordless tools you got laying around - 7.2V to 13.2V should all work fine.
Worse case, just run a pair of wire to your car battery and CAREFULLY probe the injector leads.

Thanks ted.... we'll try that when we pull the fuel sytem apart... I thought a battery should work to cycle the injector, but didn't wanna screw up his new injectors... (however... I've heard bad things about RC engineering injectors... and have personally seen a set fail on a third gen, leading to a blown front rotor/housing so I'm not 100% ont he injectors either)
