Injector Failure

Well I was passing on the highway passing at .5 km/cm2 and I felt the car loose some oomph, well it turns out one of my 1600cc secondary injectors failed. and now I no longer have a front rotor.
Yes I have a PD, and they aren't stainless lines. the Injectors were new and only have about 3000 miles on them.
Is or might there be a reason for this failure?

I dont know they would fail on you after 3000 or 500 miles, other than dirty fuel and they would clog up, did you take them to get flow tested and cleaned after the failure? if this is the case, change your fuel filter.

There are very little reasons for an injector to fail or the solenoid it self to be damage, unless you've droped them or spiked them with too much voltage or pulswidth.

How did yours fail?

well it would work intermittendly on a flow bench here in the city, the other one ont he Rear rotor works 100% this one doesn't work very well...

claudio, I have a course PPM pose fuel pump and a FPM pre fuel rail... and they are brand new with the same km's as the Fuel injectors. so I don't think it is dirty fuel.. as for the pulsewidth... I don't think that is it either. Unless the haltech spiked it with more voltage then I can't see it. But with my luck and the E6X it wouldn't surprise me.

Keep the thoughts comming?

Man, did I mention how bad I feel to hear your lost your engine

Where did you source your injectors?

Man, after hearing your story I want to send my new 1680CC to RCeng to check them.

I don't think flow testing will help.

they probably flow 1600cc jsut fine..... it's just when they work.

Is it a possiblity that they stick shut? Much like an injector sticks open.

C_Mart had something like this happen Monday and stuck an injector open (has done this before also).

Fuel was being dumped into the engine b/c it was stuck open. Not sure if it was too hot or what but atleast it was open and not shut.

Voltages defenately can fry injectors in a hurry. One of mine got friend in my FD b/c a voltage regulator crapped.

What is the current setting for the injectors? Most likely 4mp.

yup 4mp,
and compared to the other 1600 this thing barely flows any fuel at all... it seems that it is partially stuck closed. the other 1600, shoots it out in a really nice mist. and the 550's worked like a charm. I got my 1600cc from Marren Fuel Injection.

Marren has not yet returned my phone calls. But I have no doubt they will replace the injector. But I can't see them paying for my engine though.
