included in E8?

if I go ahead and buy an E8, is it necessary to already have a boost contoller or a wideband?

There is no problem if you already have a boost controller but you can set the Haltech up to be your controller if you don't have one or if you want the E8 to be your all in one solution.

As for the wideband part of your question, the E8 doesn't come with a wideband although a controller/sensor can be purchased from Haltech. The E8 has the ability to take the signal from the controller and convert it a a reading which displays as an actual ratio (i.e. 12.5:1, etc).

Did that answer your questions or did I misunderstand you?

Depends on your school of experience, some people like to just use the ECU's for fuel and ignition duty only, others prefer to have the ECU control as much as possible.

I say, if your peripherals are already there, and you know how to work them right, keep them. The cool thing about the E8's boost control features, is closed loop boost as well as boost per gear.
