This is very much a trial and error deal, you need to look at how the car behaves with each thing. But it can be summed up as this: Targe RPM (ovious), cold idle up = Target + cold idle up, Cold temp limit is the temp the haltech switches between cold values and hot values, min position is the what the haltech holds the IAC at either cold or hot operation, and with hot position is what it does when the revs come down so the car wont die or stay reved for too long.

well heres an error getting, when engine gets warm the idle begins to hunt from 900-1500 rpms cont. If I unplug the connector from the isc motor the hunt quits, will not do the same if I just disable idle speed control. I replaced the isc motor with one from a properly running fd, so I know its not the isc motor itself. I dont understand how a isc motor works, nor do I understand how the ecu controlls the it(%). So any help help with this would be great. What about the number of steps?

The computer controls the position of the IAC in both cold and hot operation. By controlling this opening air can either get in the intake or not, with this air, the computer can hold the rpms at what ever its been set to. With a cold engine, you need less air than with a warm engine.

The settings on the Idle control window handle the duty cycle on the IAC so you can have proper RPM at idle and cruising, and stoping or starting.

Each car is different...do to intake porting, strentgh/condition of motor, etc.

but I'll see if I can remember somethings...

here is a post I made a while ago.
I have success with 7ms, 10 steps...try changing your hot opening and hot MIN %'s...my MIN is 0% and Opening is around 55%.

also make sure your warm idle target isn't too far off; mine is 900rpms
