how i used DOS on wondows XP

http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=2502
after getting E6k to work in the DOSbox itself.
press:
ALT and ENTER at the same time for full screen.....
so if you have an E6K try this and see if it works, it did for me!!!!
now all i have to do is click on DOSbox, enter the name of the program and BAM...E6K anyone??
if you have trouble, feel free to ask!!!
it took me a little while to figure it out but it works great now!!
plus there is alot of info on that forum to help speed up the DOS or pretty much whatever you want to do!!

sorry for messing up the title!!

before i forget:

download the WINDOWS DOSbox Win 32 installer found here:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/download.php?main=1

after downloading this and following the site's instructions (link is given in previous post) youll notice that it still wont connect to the haltech???

the DOSbox program you just downloaded doesnt connect with the serial port

heres the fix:

open the DOSbox-0.70 and you will see DOSbox.conf

this will open in notepad (what you want).

scroll down untill you find

[serial]
serial1=dummy
serial2=dummy
serial3=disabled
serial4=disabled

simply change serial1 from:

dummy

to

directserial realport:com1

just copy and paste this then save the settings and try and reconnect.

yeah i did all of that. it took a while to understand how to open up e6k in dosbox. could it be the labtop is too new? the only problem i have is connecting to ecu.

i had a little toruble connecting also.
here is where i found to change the COM port
http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=11431

after reading it, they say to try

serial1=directserial realport:com1 startbps:1200 parity:e bytesize:8 stopbits:1 irq:4

i dont know if it will work but i guess its worth a shot?
