Haltech How to get around password protect on e6x.
I sent my e6x out to haltech for diagnostic this winter, When it came back, and i finished re-wiring my car, The computer will link up, but asks for a password now. I never had a password before. Has anybody else got any experience with this? or if anybody knows how to get around it... It wont let me load my map until i figure this out.

also,it mentions that it could be a bad serial to Usb Connection. It will not allow it to communicate with the system.
Try resetting your Com Port settings.(again I am not a tech guy so I hope my terminology is correct)
I found this.
The following guide will help you through the process, with the USB to serial adaptor plugged into a USB port.
Using Windows XP
1 - Select MY COMPUTER, under the Start Menu.
2 - Select SYSTEM icon.
3 - Select HARDWARE tab.
4 - Select DEVICE MANAGER button.
5 - Open PORTS(COM&LPT), and select the USB-to-Serial Comm Port.
6 - Select PORT SETTINGS tab.
7 - Click ADVANCED button.
8 - Under Com Port Number, select Com1, as long as not already in use (any com port 1-4 can be used, just be sure to select the same com port when setting up the Halwin software).
9 - Click OK.
Using HalwinX V1.26:
Open HalwinX 1.26.
Under SETUP on task bar, select COM PORT SET UP.
Under Port, Select COM1 (or whatever you have selected in your device manager in step 8).
Click Apply and then OK
Close down HalwinX and restart the software, you should now be able to communicate and go online with your Haltech ECU.

Thanks, I actually did reset the com ports without really knowing what i was doing, for some strange reason halwinx see's my com2 as com3, but it does go online, so i am not questioning it.
Also, the thing about the password is that i never set a password, I sent my ecu to haltech for diagnostic, and it came back with one. I am calling them about it in a few minutes.

I am not a Tech guy,and Hell I will answer my calculator if I hear a cell phone ringing!
So any Info was what I had found by seraching, that sounded "good".
If it was at all useful then "yay"!!.. if not..I'll know enough to stay out of this stuff!,and sorry if it didn't help.(I tried.)
It was helpful to make sure my com port was working for sure. But the software still is asking me for a "serial No password" Nobody at Haltech Usa seems to know anything about this or has ever seen it..... I am thinking it may be time to speak with the Australians..... The Ecu WILL go live, but will only let me view the gauge pack data, it will not let me upload maps or even update firmware.
