Haltech Questions

Im dropping a new motor into my Turbo 2 and i wanna go standalone. Does the haltech harness completely replace the engine harness? the dash harness? What exactly can i remove from the car once i install it. Is it possible to buy a kit that replaces the engine harness completely? Or rather is there a better system out there then haltech that does replace the dash harness and relays and all that?

Id actually like to be able to replace the engine and dash harness altogether along with relays and fuse boxes and such, and have a basic system that lets me run custom gauges, keep my headlights and turns and brake lights and basically run the car. I have removed my ps and ac and emissions the car is gutted all i want is the ability to hook up my engine and headlight and tailights and gauges and radio to a harness. Is that what the haltech kit is or do i have to keep stock harnesses? Any help would be great im at a critical stage in my rebuild im gonna drop the motor in soon and im coming up on this problem. Help me get my car running again!!

The Haltech (as well as many other brands) replace what is known in the FSM(Factory Service Manual) as the Emissions harness, which is the harness that runs down the passanger side of the engine bay... this harness controls the injectors and other emissions related stuff

best thing to do is to take a look at the Haltech wire schematic which can be downloaded free off the website... it will show you all the wires included in there flying lead harness

Awesome! That will help a lot because i believe im gonna go down the haltech route. But im still interested to see if there is some harness kit for the engine and dash because i really dont want to use my stock one. I know corksport makes a pretty badass one that can be customized but i dont understand the picture. Because my turbo 2 engine harness and dash harness seem to be one large piece with no quick disconnect. i actually just finished gutting my car of that harness just now in between posts. Im quite pleased cause i left the body harness (windows, tailights) in tact. I just need to know all the options i can take for the engine harness/ dash harness. Only the basics. I was reading up on the microtech and they have a harness that includes relays and fuse blocks. Does anybody know any other ides? Or would it be better to just cut down my stock engine/dash harness? I saw some guy on here who said he got the engine side down to 10 connectors.

If i were to get custom gauges connected to the engine side and battery harness then i dont even need my dash harness right? i have no A/C, and i tookout all the idiot lights and such. then i would just cut all that out of the loop.

There's no such harness made by haltech or any EMS supplier.

A Painless wiring kit would supply what you're after. Fuse blocks for lighting etc, but all your switches would need to be custom wired, and in short - there's virtually no reason to do this other then to simply be making your own harness. But by all means, painless makes "universal" wiring sets with provisions for all the basic stuff like lights, signals etc.
