Haltech program not compatible with my VAIO?

I have a Compaq laptop with ME that works fine with the my Haltech program but when I tried to use my new Sony Vaio with XP the numbers and spaces in the program show up as a symbol. I need to use the Vaio for a couple of days while my friend uses the other laptop, is there a fix for this?

haltech program runs in DOS,from what I understand, so no you can't use it with 2000/XP

Is not your Vaio, is the stupid Win ME.
There are 2 options:
1. get a cheap laptop with Win 95/98(ms dos works perfect)
2. Uninstal you Win me/XP, and freshly install Win 98.
I hope that helps.

Or just get a floppy boot disk w/ DOS on it. I figure that is the easiest route.
