Haltech for Newbies.
I am extreamly new to the standalone market.
Meaning I need to do extream research on the simplicities of the whole thing. Use set up, maintence, Installation, what i can take out of my engine bay, difficulty, ect. My car will not be a drag racer. I am a fan of quick and agile.
So can some one pretend i am their little brother, asking abunch of stupid questions and enlighten me on the subject.

Not to be a party pooper here, just offering you constructive/objective advise, this particular section of the forum contains a welth of knowledge that can help you a lot, and so does the rest of the forum, i would take a few hours a day reading through the topics and seeing if any of them is up your ally and then read through the posts so you will be well informed. There have been MANY things covered here that are right up your part of the woods so just sit back and search, i assure you you will be much more well informed after you do this. Part of making it in the performance market is the accumulation of knowledge, so here is your chance to get it.
Then come back and we'll help you better.

Haven't we ALL heard this
No body can spoon feed this information to you. Your going to have to simply start by searching and reading.
For me...I had always wanted to do a Haltech but I didn't want to because I thought it was to hard. But after enough reading I started to get the impression it wasn't that hard to install. I finally bought an E6K and when i first looked at the flying lead harness I was like you have got to be kidding.
But as I started getting into it and understanding the install it is not that hard.
Basicly, start reading here and it might not make sense at first. But once you take the plunge and buy one...then install...then run it...your understanding will increase rapidly. But the point is...YOU have to do it

Start with the manuals...
Haltech has them available for download at:
http://www.haltech.com/
Click on 'Downloads'...
The Haltech manual is actually a pretty good source of information on the ECU's itself.

I have often answered questions from people whom if they took the time to read the manual cover to cover they could've answered themselvs withouth resoursing to other experienced people. The manuals do explain a lot, and the parts that arent in there, eventually come with experience.
