Sorry if these seams like an amateurish question,
but how does one run the stereo, AC, power-wondows etc etc.... with a Haltech?

Theyre all fused off power from the battery. The ECU does not control them.

Except the AC. The Haltech has some controls for AC Function. Theres only 1 wire to the AC (on my TII anyway) so you dont have much to worry about. The stereo, windows, etc all run of power from the fuse box inside the car. Feel free to shoot some more questions.

Was it hard to take time to program the ecu? Was it time consuming?

 

yes, it does take time(more than a year of testing for my particular engine) and a very good understanding of internal combustion engines and electronics. do your homework before you attempt this type of install. if you can't figure simple stereo wiring then this may be beyond you at this point in time.

 

Tim, did you tune without a chassis dyno?

 

yes it was all tuned on the road so to speak. the chassis dyno is not the end all. the engine will need to be fine tuned while racing or street driving since the dyno cannot simulate all load points. it will get you close but to be able to run the engine hard you will have to work with it. these systems are simple to install the tough and mentally challenging part is the tuning. I struggled with it for a long time and I am no expert at tuning, so be prepared to experiment and don't be surprised if it takes longer than expected.

 

Is it a hard install?

I know how to solder and connect wires so I'm thinking
the wiring shouldn't be too bad...

 

if you can read a wiring diagram and know how to use a test light the install should not be very difficult. one thing is to make all connections as secure as possible, ie solder everything and shrink wrap it afterwards. loose and bad connections seem to be the most prevalent problem.

I can help you out if you're interested in buying, but understand that a legit dealer is not likely to sell for under retail. The E6K with flying lead harness is $1145. The connector kit is $75, and the MAP sensor depends on if you want one, two or three bar. Shoot me an e'mail or PM if you're interested. I'm out of E11s at the moment, but you might be interested in one of those as an alternative to the E6K. It sells for $1500.
