I need a E6k also, so what is it looking like? Terminated or non? Personally I'd rather have the non terminated, I have acess to all the weatherpac connectors and crimping tools I need. I'm just intrested in getting the ECU,sensors, connectors and the un terminated wiring harness.

I might be able to get 2 more people to get in on this deal also

You will want the flying harness. I bought the terminated one and so did some other people I know and we have not been completely satisfied with the termination job they did. I have the main power wire for my fuel injector harness fall out of the connector back in April. Makes it hard to run a car without fuel.

Best of luck to all of you on your group buy.

Don't forget, you will need to run a premix with the Haltech.

Yeah, this is still going....

I'm gonna give Rob @ Pineapple Racing until tomorrow. If I don't hear from him we're gonna go with Culver from Group A Motorsports in CA...if I remember correctly his price was like $1100 shipped. But thats with the flying lead...still over a $250 savings though

About the flying lead, I'm thinking its the best way to go. Jay (Styk33) and others said they had problems with the quality of the terminated harness, guess it tends to fall apart fairly easily.

I will email all of you that have shown an interest tomorrow to get all your shipping info, etc.

Thanks for your patience guys.

Okay guys. I think its done, although I'm not too pleased with how this turned out. I've decided to go with the guy offering the best price...but there are some drawbacks. He only offers the ECU (flying lead) and 3-bar MAP sensor. He claims that Haltech only makes a connector kit for GM vehicles, not for an RX-7 so he doesnt sell it. He also says that he doesn't sell the 4-wire O2 sensor because with a Haltech you don't need an O2 sensor. That is assuming you have had the car dyno tuned. Riiiiiiight.

I wasn't too sure about all this so I called Ari at RP. He said that the Haltech is a universal system, not made specifically for ANY vehicle. And it does use GM connectors, which are very common. So basically he said that the connector kit is not essential, and that as long as you aren't an idiot, you could hook it up yourself. But he does recommend the 4-wire O2 for closed loop fuel tuning.

So its up to you guys. He wants $1000 for the ECU and 3-bar MAP sensor. Thats with shipping. If you ask me its not too bad, considering that retail at rx7.com is $1257 for just ECU and 3-bar. Unfortunately you'll have to buy the O2 sensor on your own.

Also, one more thing. This guy wants doesnt want a bunch of payments and having to ship to a bunch of places. He wants ONE payment and ONE ship. Kinda makes things more difficult on our end I think. So, unless anyone has any problems with it, you'll have to pay me, then I pay him, then he ships to me, then I ship to you.....if this doesnt work for anyone then please let me know so we can work something else out.

I will contact all of you by email also.

Thanks again guys.

Okay, I've already gotten a couple responses from people saying this sounds "shady".

There's nothing shady about it. This actually works out best for the group as a WHOLE. The only items EVERYONE needs is the ECU, wires, and 3-bar MAP. Not everyone wanted a terminated harness. Not everyone wanted a connector kit. Not everyone wanted an O2 sensor. So this just makes it simple. And we're still saving $250+.

But, of course it's up to you guys. Nobody is obligated to buy anything.

Also, feel free to contact me about anything.

Thanks.

Ahhh, the drama builds.

The payment issue is weird. It's one of two ways....

1. Easy for Culver @ Group A Motorsports

2. Easy for us.

Easy for Culver is ONE payment. The only way we can make this work (as far as I know) is through PayPal. Now PayPal charges 2.9% for each CC transaction. Thats $30 extra. BUT I called Culver and (after he laughed at me) he said that he could drop the price to cover the PayPal cost. I think he just didn't want the hassle of 10+ transactions.

Easy way for us, obviously, is to each pay him individually. This is what I would prefer, but he was pretty adamant about having just ONE payment transaction. Which I guess is pretty understandable.

Also, he does not have all our units in stock. Nobody does, not even RP. So no matter what we will have to wait for them to get shipped from Haltech. Sorry vosko, best I can do man...

And yes, Culver is an authorized distributor. These units have a FULL warranty.

Because some people cant pay by check. Culver doesn't want to have 10+ transactions etc to take care of. He's a lazy bastard (j/k) and wants it the easiest way for him. Wouldn't you?

Don't trust Brad. One time we were over at RX7passion' house and his grandma was there. We told brad, "we're going off to get some beer. whatever you do, don't go to town on granny." He said, "Ok. I won't do it and i won't steal the popcicles from the freezer." So me and Blair (passion) come back and we see granny lying naked on the floor with her walker shoved where it shouldn't be and Brad is smoking crack out of a light bulb muttering about a plan to make enough money to buy a haltech and one of those 'real dolls'. Not to mention all the popcicles were gone. DON'T TRUST BRAD. HE WILL **** YOUR GRANDMOTHER.
Sincerely,
steve

lol, this is just crazines like i said im in if we just save shiping,
321$ is alot more than shiping,

but i understand where Culver @ Group A Motorsports is comin from,
GB's suck bottom line, everone sees one and says im in im in im in, then when it comes time for the $ half the people bounce or come up with an excuse why they cant. incase you cant tell ive headed a few gb's b4..ones where like 15 people said their in...then like 5 actually ordered)

now for a company doin the gb either
A) you hope the 10 people who said their gonna be in are and order the units b4 you get all the cash and keep everone happy but take chance on sittin on merchandise

B) wait till you have all the $ then order the units, listen to people bitch abt watin 2-3 weeks, possibly have people back out last minute, or the guy who says my checks in the mail, then never replies to his e-mail

for him this is the easiest, 1 lump sum, no giving deadlines hoping everone gets in, no wonderin how many to order, 1 order, 1 shipment. done......

but doing makes it a big PIA for us,

personaly i thank badass for doin all this work, i was prepared to spend the 1472 from rp to get it all but this deal looks to be best....

I hope this goes well for you guys, but the savings just don't seem worth the effort in my opinion. I recently bought an E6K with terminated harness, 2bar sensor, and a trim **** for less than $1300. I believe it was $1250 to my door. any O2 sensor can work it doesn't have to be a "Haltech" model, some of the other board members can suggest a generic substitute. I hate to see these deals go bad even when everyone involved is honest and has the best intentions. Maybe try and work out a deal to send all group buy member to one place and if they ask for the rx7forum deal the company gives everyone a better than retail price. I negotiate these type of deals with our race team and we only have 2 cars and most of the companies are glad to give us 10-20% for just two units. nobody wants to be on the hook for $10,000 plus if something out of there control happens, check got lost, ex-wife runs off with the pool guy and clears checking account, or what ever. try to do a deal for everyone to pay the company seperately so your personal finances and reputation are not on the line. If they don't want ten Haltech customers then someone else will. most of these guys don't sell that many units in a year let alone a month or two. be careful and good luck

Okay, and we are looking at the E6K and 3-bar MAP for $1000. Nobody here really wants the terminated harness or trim ****, and we are getting a 3-bar MAP, not 2-bar. I don't see how your deal was any better than ours. Subtract what you paid for your harness, trim ****, and add for a 3-bar MAP, and you've got about $1000....

Please, if you dont mind, point me in the direction of these compnaies. See, there are 42 authorized dealers on Haltech's website with a telephone # or email listed. I have contacted ALL of them. Every single one. You want to know what 95% of them said about a group buy...??? HELL NO. To be more specific...

Yes we do retail sales of Haltech Systems. Haltech requires we adhere to the retail pricing policy's witch we prefer to do to protect the Profitability of dealers who offer competent tech support and to keep resellers who sell below retail only for the money and deeper discounts to could care less if you need tech assistance or not and will send you to haltech direct who are already understaffed to handle tech calls from people who purchased through suppliers that can't Help you. a far as group
discounts no we do not unless you are a licensed repair or performance shop and can substantiate that with the appropriate Documentation

So, again, please inform me of these companies that are so willing to just hack 10-20% off retail for only a couple units. Oh, and btw...ECU and 3-bar MAP sensor for $1000 is 21% off retail.

I have bought two E6K units from two different companies and both cut me a deal from there advertised price. First one was from Rotary Performance and the second one was from MechTech Motorsports in Escondido, Ca. I believe both are authorised dealers not sure if both are on the Haltech list. Ari has helped us out with our first unit and gave us a great deal at the time(right when E6K was first introduced so was a little higher than can be had at this time.) and Jim from MechTech sold me the last one for the price I posted. About a month ago someone(who has been caught thank god) broke into my house and one of the things the stole was my E6K ECU and the cops have not been able to find it. So I emailed Jim at Mechtech to ask for the cost of a new ECU only and he quoted me $950 for ECU alone(map sensor is about $25-$30). Now Jim is a guy who only works on race cars and off road vehicles so sometimes he can be short with street car applications(doesn't usually work on street cars), but I would just not tell him the application and tell him what you want and if you gave him ten customers what the good guy price would be for what you want. My suggestion was just to find the company who wanted ten customers handed to them and was willing to take a little less on each unit to get the ten. don't make them keep a list just an agreement that once the ten are paid for this is the price. Ten person conference call or something. I just hate to see people upset at one another over a deal that saves you a couple hundred bucks(I know a couple hundred is alot of money but is worth having everybody not trust you?) Like I said before Jim is a great guy and knows alot about Haltech's and EFI in general, but is so busy he is not going to organise the deal. just tell him you got 10 customer that want your same setup and what is the price, no need to volunteer any more info. here is a link to his website http://www.mechtech-ms.com/

Ari and Jim McFarland (Mech-tech) were unable to give us a discounted group price. They were both aware of the fact we wanted 10+ units.

I can give you guys the copy of the emails if you like.
