Haltech,fuel milage,octane

Im planing on using a E6k in my 1st gen with a 13bt and have a couple of questions. Id like to use a map from the hitmans site and just leave it as is until I can aford to have it tuned on the dyno. For now the engine will remain stock and the turbo will be stock and hopfully limited to 10 pounds of boost. I will be using the stock coils and ignitors a front mount intercooler from a volvo and a 2.5 inch down pipe to a cat and a 2.5 inch exhaust. I do not have the haltec yet because now im debating if I should use the stock ECU and go threw the headache of finding all of the pieces and wiring it or just get a haltech. Id like to know if the map has anything to do with the octane rating of the gas I will be using and if so what octane are the maps from the hitman tuned for. I live in California and we only have 92 octane gas and that will soon be lowered to 91 octane. I know that the stock computer uses a knock sensor to retard timing incase of detonation like in the case of low octane gas but with the haltec there will be no safe guard. This will be a daily driven car that will be taken to the track once a week, so I am also concerned with fuel economy. With the haltech will it reamain as good as stock or will it be a lot worse than stock?

Thanks
Ryan W

Fuel economy and general drivibility should all improve with a Haltech over the stock computer, not to mention a bit more power. If you grab a map from my website it is normally set to be rather conservative. It will run a bit rich and a little retarded but it will run well enough until you can have it fine tuned. I have to leave the maps this way because I dont know the condition of everyones engine out there, and also the fuel grade can vary dramatically from city to city, let alone different countries.
If you decide to buy a Haltech let me know and I can set up a map that is a little more tailored to your car, and also supply kits to you usually within 7 days.

Thanks for the info. Your web page is what inspired me to buy another 1st gen and put a 13bt in it. Im still working on putting the engine in and gathering all the smaller parts but the computer is coming up soon. Anyway if I do decide to buy a haltech I will most likely buy it from you to get all the support like the maps and the installation help.

Thanks
