Vosko,

The same thing did happen. I still can't get it going. I am waiting for a new POS laptop I bought from ebay but they are taking their sweet *** time to ship it. Once this new laptop comes I will try it again.

It's such a shame because I can get my hands on so many laptops but they all have greater than WIN98 on them.

still no go!

I received the POS laptop I bought off ebay. It was loaded with Windows98. Well long story short.... HALTECH did the same thing. Could it be the same verson of Windows98. I didnt have both laptops to compare.

I am going to to reload Windows 98(from an old disk I have) onto the POS laptop and see what happens. I am loosing faith here. Maybe I should try WIN95? hmmm. Gotta see if anyone I know has a WIN95 disk laying around.

I just realized my 'new' laptop doesn't have a CD drive. How the hell I am going to load a new Windows. This damn Haltech is killing me. . . .and it's not even my car!

did you check the serial port works on the laptop? like by trying to use a serial device like an old mouse?

I dont have an old serial port mouse to try. BUT if the laptop loads up the old maps which are stored in the HALTECH then why would it suddenly decide not to communicate with the Haltech?

Does anyone have a copy of the Haltech F9 program I could borrow? Maybe the program I have has a bug.

Vosko, Where do you live? I am coming to pick you up.

OKAY,

3 laptops, 2 Windows versions and 2 F9 programs later... same thing. WTF????

Am I missing something here? If I have a bad sensor I should not get this error right? Or if the trigger DIP switches are incorrect I shouldn't get this neither, right? I don't know what else to check.

there is only one way to find out. i'm gonna go there with my car and laptop and cable and any other stuff i can think of. if it doesn't work with swapping EVERYTHING. it has to be the haltech i'd think ?

oops i lied i have another idea.... maybe the maps he is trying to load up are corrupt.... that could also do it

i read on the haltech list. sometimes when you email a map. it gets filtered and the information gets messed up on haltech maps. you should zip the files first before sending. hitman and somebody else emailed about it.

yeah, that is true. i learned that first hand a while ago. i got a map from someone from a hotmail addy and just by glancing at it i knew it was not right. he emailed it from a yahoo address and everything was fine... unzipped. but that would not stop the ecu from comunicating wiht the laptop....

Sorry Guys, I feel like I am outta the loop. I was busy all day working on *my* car. Got the boost to raise up and polished the 2 rear rims and mounted my boost controller. It was a good day.

I emailed Haltech Thursday and he said 'sounds like the wrong software. What version software are you using and what is the serial no of the F9?' I emailed him back the info and I am awaiting a response.

To answer some of your questions:

-I tried 2 serial cables-> one was new. both same pblm
-The Haltech is used
-I am using the MAPS that are already programmed in the unit. I also tried to use the E6K map modified.

Here's a more detailed explanation of whats happening.

I start the F9.exe program. I choose (y) to run it online. (the key is on and the HALTECH is getting power). The information is loaded to 100%. Slight pause and then to the next screen. I choose calibrate TPS and it states 'reconnect Haltech' and freezes. I must reboot now. If I choose to go to the fuel map at lets say 5000 RPM, map loads and within about 8 seconds, it says 'reconnect Haltech'. If I go to engine data, the top of the screen says' Engine data' but there is a very quick blink when it, once again, displays 'Reconnect Haltech'.

Hopefully Haltech Australia has something to say.

Well the problem is solved..

Thanks to all who assisted me with this. I found out that the F9 software was incorrect. Haltech emailed me F9 version 3.5 and it works!!!

Now I shall be flooding you guys with tuning questions!

Which version did I e-mail to you?
I thought it was the 3.5 version.
