Fuel pump relay not working?

I have been driving my car for 3 months, and it has been running great. Then one day the fuel pump stopped working. I rigged it with a toggle switch so I could get home. With a multimeter I went to checking wires. The relay has constant voltage, and when i turn the key the grey switched 12v wire also has power. But the trigger wire (black/yellow stripe) that actually tells the pump to kick on is not getting a signal from the ecu. I had a friend turn the key on/off several times while i checked for voltage. NOTHING. Ever since I rigged the toggle switch to the battery, the car floods when you let off the gas and decel in gear. It runs fine under WOT, but as soon as i let off it cuts out, and spews black smoke. If i downshift it will usually come back to life. I dont whether my ecu is to blame or that the walbro pump at constant 12v is cuasing it to flood. If the trigger wire is not getting signal from the ecu, could the ecu be screwed????

ok, I have rechecked everything. The only problem I can find is that the Haltech (E6X) is not sending a signal to the fuel pump relay. The trigger wire has no voltage during the pump prime phase, during cranking, or while running. I need to check for continuity between the fuel pump relay and the actual pin on the main connector. I think the fuel pump trigger wire is pin #6 on the ecu, correct me if im wrong. Does anyone know the pin layout at the ecu and main harness connector??????? If i can check the trigger wire i can determine if it is the wire or the ecu that is fualty. Also, could the fuel pump wired directly to the battery (not controlled by haltech) cause any malfunction or damage to the ecu?
thanx,
Machija

Problem Solved. It turned out that my harness had a kink in just aft of the firewall. I straitened the harness. Runs Great Again!
