Elite 1500 & FFE crank sensor

I am searching for affirmation here...please let me know if I am heading down the correct path toward initial startup.
  • Main setup: FFE crank angle sensor (rx-8 trigger)
  • Lock timing at 0 (ls1 ignition)

  • set dwell time to 5ms (ls1 ignition)
  • shoot timing light and adjust TDC offset angle (I think 63* is pretty close to zero).

Next step. Unlock ignition timing and enter values at 5* firing angle and 15* trailing split angle in main setup. I am not sure on these angles but they were entered in the base map from Haltech for a single turbo FD.

  1. Is 63* offset angle in my situation realistic?
  2. Is this how you would zero my ignition timing before proceeding?
  3. Has anyone used the FFE sensor with a Haltech Elite before and what was your TDC offset angle to reach zero timing?
  4. Is there another way to confirm that the front rotor is in TDC besides the FFE trigger?

In the haltech video their offset angle was in the 500’s if I remember correctly.

Here it is for reference.

Rear rotor apex seal locations though leading and trailing spark plug holes marked with blue tape.

TDC looks to be 75* after an apex seal is centered in the trailing plug hole in the rear rotor.

I'm pretty sure Havoc's thread covers this FFE trigger setup as I think I remember him doing some pretty extensive troubleshooting with it.

I'm running LS1 coils on my FFE trigger kit for my FC but the settings they provided me were wrong I too had to use the rx8 mode for it to work. I also have an rx8 so I verified that its the same exact pattern but I'm using v belt setup lol.

The important part was setting TDC correctly and marking it while its installed but thats easier when you have a racing beat pulley because it has 0 marked already. When I can get back to my car i'll check my settings and share them with you. it works flawlessly:

The only other difference for me is that I am using an elite 1000 because I don't want DBW support - thats the only difference 1000/1500.

Skeese, thanks for the direction...I will go through Havoc's thread again.

fidelity101... I look forward to seeing your settings. I am curious if the FC has identical TDC angles though.

I am running an Elite 2500, FFE Rx8 Trigger wheel and IGN1A coils. I found my TDC offset to be 60*.

Just realized you mentioned that you were dwelling the LS1 coils to 5ms. Its been well documented that the LS1 coils will auto-discharge somewhere in the 4-5 ms range when they hit an internal charge cap. Not sure if this is driving your current issue, but you need to reduce that dwell regardless.

I'm confused what the issue is? The car runs good at your 63*?

i forgot to post this months ago, these are my FFE settings for my elite and it works flawlessly. I can easily find TDC on my main pulley because its a racingbeat one, they have a few marks clearly defined.
