Since 2009 I have been using E8 and using windows Xp, recently my computer crashed, and got it repaired and now wondering if the firmware 1.89 that I have used for ever, wondering if there has ever been a update to the firmware to allow me to use windows 10 with the program and or if there has been a patch to allow 10 to communicate with the old firmware. I really hate to think I got to update engine management to a new Elite, Am old school and like what I have. any information would be great, Thanks Louis

Yes, for sure you can use your E8 with windows 10.

 

The tricks are the following
Getting a good USB to serial DB9 adapter
picking a USB port and always using the same USB port on the laptop.
Adjusting the COM port number to 1 or 2 in device manager since it is bound with that hardware USB serial device on that specfic USB port.
Getting the halwin 1.89 extracting it and getting a setup32.exe to use on Windows 64-bit over the default setup16.exe /setup.exe since it is 16bit and does not work on Win10

I too have an E8 and would love to see your map.
I am trying to figure out idle issues and my tuner did a shitty job or making the car drivable.
