E6X Ignition Issues

I'm having "ignition issues" with my E6X in my 82 RX-7.
When looking at reports from the various support groups, it seems ignition issues are common with the E6X.
I really want to try to understand this since I planned to put an E6X in my other car - but now I'm not sure if this is a good idea.

My problem seems to be a little different than the other ignition issues here, so I started a new thread.

I got one of the first E6X's over a year ago.
My installation is very good electrically with E6X power coming directly from my Optima battery.
Not the car's wiring harness.

During installation we found that the E6X would not properly drive MSD 6A ignitions.
I'm an electrical engineer so I looked at the signals on an oscilloscope and designed an "interface" which triggered the MSD's with no problem.

I'm using a 2nd Gen RX-7 CAS.
I knew where this CAS came from and it was definitely good.
EVERY day - regardless of weather - it would very abruptly die about 50 miles into my 75 mile trip to work.

After a few minutes on the side of the road it would start (it acted flooded but it died like ignition was abruptly lost).
I would always continue to work without problem after that.
It NEVER happened on the way home even if the weather and temperature was similar to the morning.
(another mystery)

My dealer changed out the CAS and E6X (a newer E6X that could drive the MSD's).
That problem never returned.

I have four MSD 6A ignitions and coils - one for each plug in direct fire.
My car starts and runs very well on just the trailing ignition.

With both E6X's that I had - it would ALWAYS start on the trailing ignition and a second or so later the leading would start firing accompanied with a slight RPM increase and simultaneous tach reading (tach is triggered from the leading ignition)

At this point my car is tuned very well.
Starts right up at any temperature and runs very strong at all RPM's.

I have not changed any of the maps in a long time.
But this morning the problem returned.
And on a random basis - it shows up once and a while.

It started fine and idled for about 6 0r 7 seconds then abruptly (like someone threw an ignition switch) died.
I crank the engine and there are no ignition pulses apparent on the tach.
I Turn OFF the Haltech - turn it back on again - crank the engine - and it starts fine (again starting on the trailing and a second or so later my leading ignition kicks on)

This repeated several times, so I just walked to work.

Did you ever hear of this particular problem before?

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately - whenever this happens I don't have my laptop with me, so I have no datalog information.
