e6k sensor problems

Hi,

I plugged my e6k with 13B-RE air temp and water temp sensor. I got some weird temp from these sensors on the e6k. Somebody has an idea why it's like that ?

Note: The car has not been started yet.

Alex

what is the temps you are getting? "Weird" is not a very good description of the problem.

The 13bre sensors will have different resistance values than the haltech sensors.

Are you using the haltech sensors? If not, you should.

Weird it's like -32 Celsius for air temp and 24 Celsius for water temp. Don't know what it is in farenheit, but the ambiant temperature is like 16 Celsius.

I'm not using haltech sensor.

use the haltech sensors-

take a multi meter for the air temp and measure the resistances of both the haltech sensors and the stock one.

If they are far appart you found your problem.

You really should use the haltech sensors.

everyone above is correct, use the provided sensors or you may have problems with the resistance range. You can get away with using different sensors if they are in the ball park but you will not have an accurate temperature display in the dos software as a result, but they often still work fine for correction maps as long as you tune them.

simplest solution - use the provided sensors.

I know you already agreed to install the haltech ones, but just in case someone runs into this post again, the Haltech may be able to read from the factory mazda sensor, it works similar to the haltech/delfi one, but the airtemp isnt anywhere near it.

Later,
The FC's water temp is close I believe and can be used. Not sure on FD though.

I guess if I went stand alone "close" isn't good enough for me

Yes, im with you on that, nothing is better than what the stand alone is set to use, the only reason i would use the factory sensor would be because the owner doesnt want to tap the waterpump housing for practical reasons.

What do you think about these sensors ?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

Will they be good with the e6k ? And will they fit without doing tap ?

Yes, resistances is the same on these sensors, appartenly they are the replacement for the bigger thread ones. I dont know if the air temp sensor will fit the factory mazda location on the throttle body cover, but i think the coolant temp will fit in the factory location, but dont quote me on that.

Later,
Thanks a lot!

You compared resistance from GM sensors used with the haltech with those on ebay? Where did you get these numbers?
