E11v2 closed loop boost control - huh?

Just returned from a looong dyno session and massive frustration regarding the closed loop boost control. Summary:

- Haltech boost control solenoid
- E11v2 with Halwin 1.71
- Hoses routed as per Haltech diagram, tried both ways
- Has +12v and PWM output 4 connected, both confirmed to work

Can anyone help me figure this out? It seems to control boost sporadically and sometimes not at all. Here's a shot of my settings (ignore most of them). Any help appreciated!

It seems like we had a lot of the same problems. It looks like your PID settings or off.

Start here.

I started with 5%, 5%, 0% and a start duty cycle of 1. The boost would drop way below target (safe) but i never got a chance to datalog correct start duty cycle.

Thanks, I guess I will try that. We were just using all the defaults per the Haltech instructions!

use the turbo output with the duty cycle map for the mapped duty cycle to figure out what start duty you need. Until I did this, I couldn't get closed loop boost control to work.

We couldn't get that to work either...whenever we datalogged it showed that the PWM output was pegged at 100% duty cycle, even though we had it set in the map for 20-30. Any idea why that was? Frankly we would have been quite happy to just use "Turbo Wastegate' instead of the closed loop mode.

Negative, using 1.71. Confirmed that both the +12v and the PWM worked fine and tried the output in the Halwin software both inverted and normal!

I had that exact problem with 1.81, you know what I'm not sure if I ever used the closed loop in 1.71, that might have been 1.61, hell I don't remember.

Please call haltech usa and report this problem to them.

I already called regarding this problem with 1.81.

Yea, we couldn't get the Turbo Wastegate output to work at all. Had to double check that the PWM was working properly by setting it as a tach output and testing it, which worked.

My tuner said that he's had problems with the Turbo Wastegate PWM output in 1.71 and could only get it to work in 1.62.

Ok, here's the lowdown. Load your DEFAULT base map onto the ECU, the base map for v1.82 or even 1.71, depending on what version of software you are using. Also! very important! disconect your coils/ignition components when you do this!

Then you'll have to open another window of halwin offline and load your old map onto that, and basically copy/paste all your settings onto the online program and your ECU, once you're done SAVE THAT MAP! and you'll be fine.

Also! those STANDARD maps in the halwin software are so old its ridiculous, dont use them, they need to be updated, they've been past on from version to version without being properly updated.

So do that and you should be ok.
