Dimmer switch as boost control selector

I love 'hidden in plain sight' solutions, and I was thinking of using the dash light dimmer switch in the FD for the boost control selector. My tuner initially said he thought we could get it to work, but recently he said it didn't look likely. So I started collecting parts to install a more traditional solution, an 8 position rotary switch. 8 Position Rotary Switch For Standalone ECU - Reform Motorsports

I wired this part of the harness for 12v since we were confident we could get the dimmer switch to work. I checked output voltages on the switch and it ranges from 0v to 0.208v at the highest. Since I'd rather not dig the harness out again, I was planning on keeping 12v running to the 8 position switch, and while the switch can handle it, Haltech tech support said it has to be 5v. When I told him the stock dimmer switch max voltage is not even 1v, he said it should work.

So, I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this, or might know how to get it to work.

You should be able to run this as a pull-up channel and it'll give you the range you're hoping for. Pretty sure I've done something similar for all the engine tuning I do. We don't normally use that specific one though.

What I did for mine was replaced the choke **** for a Rotary **** and it looks incredible, in my opinion. I spent countless hours designing this interior though, so I think it's important to be patient on your expectations vs. reality.

Yeah my buddy told me we could use an AVI or SPI (or maybe only one of them would work, I don't remember), but I'd still need to rewire for 5v to make it work, so I figured I might as well just swap to the 8 position switch. I got it all rewired and hooked up, but I need a 3D printed blank to mount it in the center console.

That is a great looking interior! Well done!
