Dell Mini + usb to serial adaptor?

i just bought a dell mini with the atom processor. i am using a belkin usb to serial adaptor. i had to download the drivers from online because this thing doesn't have a disk drive. anyways i am having trouble getting my haltech to communicate at all. i have already done all the port setup jazz to no avail.
is any one using a dell mini successfully with there usb to serial adaptor.
btw i have an e6x.
i called tech support and they recommended the keyspan adaptor so i have one of those coming.

thanks

I am using an HP mini, with USB to serial adapters. I can't remember the adapter name off hand, but it has always worked well, with my E6X. The hardest part was just getting the correct com port set up, and for the love of god, never pull the usb plug out of the mini, before Halwin is shut down... makes my mini inoperable for about 5 minutes, while it sorts itself out!

Would you mind sharing what model adapter you got? I have an old Dell d600 laptop that I use to tune but I keep breaking the damn screen hinges. So I'm gonna finally buy one of those smaller net books strictly for the Fd but of course non of them have the serial port. I figure if I can get this to work with my Dell's usb, them I can comfortably buy the smaller pc knowing that I can use the usb port.

rule of thumb. the cheaper adaptor, the better it will work.
