Haltech cold start question

cold start question
I understand what I have to do to get the car to start up when its cold. But my only question is how do I do this without killing my battery. I already killed one optima and I don't wanna kill another. I also don't have a battery charger and I was wondering what battery charger can take a beating?

This has nothing to do with haltechs. But your are correct regular battery chargers will kill AGM batteries by overcharging them.
To charge an AGM battery such as an optima you need a voltage regulated charger that keeps the output voltage at around 14.5 or less, its also good to keep the amperage fairly low, (15 or less is a good bet). On AGM batteries the vents are intended to stay sealed, overcharging or excessive charge voltage causes excess heat which will build up vapor pressure inside the battery and boil the acid out of the glass mat material opening the vents.
I have this charger from sears, which has an AGM setting: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...1225000P?mv=rr

Thanks for the info but right after my second post i ended up running over to pep boys and opening my wallet for a good battery charger. After 2 mins i had the car starting up good.
This may have nothing to do with haltechs but i thought it might have something to do with aftermarket ecus because i doubt many people with stock ecus have run out of power while trying to tune their stock ecus fuel correction maps.
