I have an electrical issue with the alternator I know of. When I start my car I have to rev over 2500 rpms to actually 'activate' the alternator and I'll start making 14v.

I had the problem that when I would turn the headlights on and put a draw on the power my afrs would go super lean and the car would die. So I went into the fuel battery correction map and added alot of fuel and it ran great. It will idle rock solid at 1k rpms at 14v in the haltech info page at low 12's afr. This is with the headlights on, power the laptop through an inverter and with my subwoofer going and foot on brake.

Then randomly it will run lean then die. I'll watch the voltage meter and it does drop maybe to 13v but the afr goes from 12's up to 16's and then its dead. Also it only does this when I have the headlights on, so I'm wondering if the voltage is dropping too much to the fuel pump and making the car run lean.

I'm using a FD alternator which I've already replaced because of bad diodes and this 2nd alternator is having the exact same issue. Also this battery is brand new! I'm going to rewire the 12v constant to the alternator to see if that might be the issue. Does anyone else have any suggestions? Is there anything else that would be causing my electrical issues?

I would fix all your electrical problems, and make sure your alternator and power and ground lines are all perfect, so that at idle you see at least 13v and during aceleration you see over 13.5-14v, since the Haltech doesnt like working below that, and also your coils and injectors will have less power to go around so your compensation maps would be different.

Then see what happens. Im sure it will all work perfect after that.

Uh, the exciter signal lead HAS to see constant +12VDC!
Fix this first before looking elsewhere for the problem!

At idle the haltech reports 14v. With the headlights on, subwoofer on and laptop being power, but when I hit the brakes my afr just raises. It's crazy. I'm gonna rewire that 12v constant in the morning. I'm gonna go into the battery correct and just throw tons of fuel at it and hope that keeps me alive for the ride home from work.
