Alternator control?

Anyone using the alternator control function? If so, how do you have it wired and set up?

Yes. Simply connect an output to the field control of the alternator.

I summon the gods of rotary to resurrect a thread from the dead!

What is a field control of an alternator? There is a L and R terminal on S4 and older alternators and L and S on the newer models as I understand. I think the L terminal is positive and the S terminal is negative. I was under the impression that the L terminal goes to the dash and warning light and I would connect the DPO to the S terminal. Now I'm not so sure. As i have overthought this to where my head is spinning. where exactly do I terminate the DPO for alternator control?
