TGS Tuning Dolphin Tip 3" Catback (5 minimum)

Hey Guys,

If you found yourself doing research into a "dolphin" or downturned tip exhaust like me please read on. I know some of us like conform to the JDM hype and solicit to the RE-Amemiya gucciness, but sometimes the supply / availability doesn't solve our needs. Well, as I was looking up comparable product, I found a small shop called TGS (Top Gear Stockport), who specializes in aftermarket tuning. Apparently, they also make a couple exhausts for the FD3S RX7!
Link Here >> https://tgsexhausts.co.uk/product/tg...azda-rx7-fd3s/

Well, my conversation led me to ask if we any discounts could be had. They told me as long as we had a minimum of 5 people, we could inquire about savings.

Product Description
-- 4″ Dolphin Trim – 76mm 3″ system Bore, Catback / Decat racepipe back system.

so this is a dolphin tale style exhaust / catback? will it bolt right up to ..lets say a stock FD cat?
or HFC from bonze ? from the picture it looks like its really close up to the rear trim and it scares me a bit about melting the plastic trim every once and a while. i too toy with the idea of getting a RE Dtail exhaust, just cant justify the price, even considered getting a replica one from RHDjapan or other vendors on here. this looks like a very good alternative !

do you have a sound clip by any chance? i am actually really interested

There's a sound clip on YouTube. Repackable I believe just means you can repack the dampening material in the muffler vs just buying a new one.

from the site

"Repackable meaning you can pack to suit your needs and also refresh the packing if under hard use. The outer face of the rear box is removable via stainless Allan bolts. The system comes pre packed"

I don't have the stock midpipe, but pictured below is the flange connection.

Pictures of the 'Repackable' muffler section for those who are interested.

From TGS - -
"...the tail has good clearance its the angle of the photo doesnt do it justice, we had a few customers ask the same thing but never anyone having issues once they had them fitted."

Sounds nice. Probably going to be a little louder than the RB and a little quieter than GT style mufflers. Maybe comparable to the Greddy SP in volume and tone?

It does look like it will melt the trim in the picture, you you could bend the metal handers or fiddle with longer rubber hangers to correct that, if you were so inclined.

  • I reached out to the shop and they mentioned more than a couple customers mentioned those concerns, and there have been no reports of melting trim / fascia pieices.

FYI, Top Gear Stockport is a well respected shop for the small UK rotary community. The owner is a rotary fanatic and he is often the go-to for custom exhaust work when guys swap to singles or swap in a 20b and need a custom header, etc. Here is his car which is magazine featured and quick as hell.

Guys, if this is going to become an official GB (and based on interest it looks like it may happen) then someone (probably the OP) will need to get on board as an official GB vendor for this to go live. Cost is nominal, 75 bones for the GB to run for three months.

Thread will remain open to allow for continued interest..... hell, I'd ****** one up if I wasn't already rocking an RE-A Titanium dolphin

Thanks for the heads up! My fault for not observing the rules for GB organizing. Out of curiosity, what's the difference between creating a general interest thread vs. an official GB thread? I thought I was just getting a list and then organizing sales between individuals and the vendor (which is on my own personal time) Genuine question - What am I paying for? I wasn't able to find a sticky for rules on group buys? PS - I have no affiliation with the vendor, therefore I would find it a little confusing for me to fork up $ to advertise for them
