GB #3: FD Aluminum Passenger Door Handle - SakeBomb Garage

As most of us know the OEM plastic interior door handle was poorly designed by Mazda and is prone to breaking, for a number of different reasons. Mazda also charges a very high price for another plastic replacement with the same flaws. SakeBomb Garage has finally created a permanent solution to Mazda’s design flaw.

Our identical replica is aluminum, and will last the life of your FD! No longer do you have to frighten unsuspecting girlfriends or passengers by screaming “DON’T PULL THAT HANDLE!”. It may take some getting used to, but that feeling in the pit of your stomach when a passenger closes the door will subside. As with all of our products, new mounting hardware is included. We were able to replicate both the 93 and 94 interior finishes, as well as color for a completely OEM appearance.

Highlights:
* All aluminum construction (will never break)
* SS mounting hardware included
* OEM interior match for both 93 and 94 plastics
* Cheaper than Mazda. Better than Mazda.

This is an IDENTICAL reproduction in aluminum which will solve the problem Mazda ignored once and for all. The stock cover is easily re-applied from your old plastic handle for a 100% identical OEM stock look (or they can be covered in any type of leather, vinyl, carbon fiber, etc... the sky is the limit). Personally we prefer reusing the stock cover for a completely OEM look.

Price: $235.00
For an additional $110, add our LDH Passenger Footrest to make our Passeger Track-Pack Combo! That's $35 off of our normal price on the Track-Pack.

Interior Door handle GB purchase link

*Price includes paypal fees and shipping within the continental US
**Please note what finish you would like when submitting payment (93 or 94)

We need a minimum of 40 people to make this happen due to the minimum order quantity for a casting production run. Reply to this thread if you're interested in signing up, and please list yourself as paid when your payment goes through!

Please follow the link above to our website to submit payment. We will ship all orders once the group buy is concluded a month from now (count down listed on our site )

Thanks,
SBG

Thanks Tony! Anyone interested please throw your name on the list, we've been getting emails and PM's about doing another run for the last few months while we've been out, but we really can't do it unless there's serious interest, otherwise this product will end up in the "no longer available" category

PS if you are interested please add your name but when you submit payment please bump the list with a "paid" next to your name... it's easier to track the GB that way. Thanks everyone, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

As someone who purchased one from the very first SBG group buy I'm willing to go on record and say: Amazing product, amazing customer service and one of the most useful pieces I ever bought for my FD.

I've owned three different SBG products and all have been of superb quality!

Thank you for the kind words. Someone shoot a t-shirt at this guy out of a canon!

(sadly we still need to make a new run of shirts and have not yet built a t-shirt canon)

PS I died laughing when I read your tag line Mr.Fellas is indeed quite height deficient, but what he lacks in height he makes up in pure ANGER

Hey guys, we thoroughly appreciate the support and interest. We've gotten a lot of emails, PMs and Facebook messages with interest in the door handles however we've only had a handful of people follow through with submitting payment.

Since the minimum order for the casting run is 40 units, we need quite a few people to follow through to make this happen. If you guys want to help make this happen, please click here to join the group buy and submit payment. Not only does this help us move this process along faster, but you guys get to save some dough as well.

Here's the current interest/paid list:

1. TonySeagle (93 finish)
2. Arwyn Gonzales (93 finish)
3. Donald Kash (93 finish) - PAID
4. Rocketeerbandit (93 finish)

Hey guys,
So here's the deal... we're getting tons of emails and PM's about this saying "I'll take one" but to date we've had only four payments. Without backing we can't make these or have to up the price significantly as the production run quantities are quite high and expensive. If the demand really isn't there it's not a wise choice to tie up a bunch of R/D funds in something that's going to sit on the shelf. So if you're interested in seeing this happen we need a monetary commitment.

I have a quote from the casting shop for a 2-4 week lead time from the day I give them the green light... so theoretically we could have these shipping by mid march. This is a bit of an irregular GB, a flood of interest (especially emails for some reason) but slow deposits. I'm not sure which way to go on this one honestly... usually everyone is either totally gung-ho or generally not into it. this is a weird middle ground.

-Heath

Anybody on the fence about this should go ahead and do it. I got one a couple years ago and must say the passenger handle in my FD is the strongest thing in the car. I am sure I could rip the door off the hinge with it if I wanted to. Plus it looks perfectly stock, nobody can tell the difference until they close the door with it.

We've decided to bite the bullet and do a small production run of these. We'll keep the Group Buy pricing active until 11:59PM March 31st PST at which point it will go back up to the standard pricing.

Let me reiterate: you are now 100% completely totally guaranteed to receive one if you place an order. We may have to raise the price on these in the future though simply because of the cost of making them in such small quantities, so if you want one make sure to order it now at the lower price.

We were able to talk the manufacturer into doing half of the normal production run, however it added a significant increase to the per-unit cost but we'll honor our current discount pricing for all pre-orders before 11:59PM March 31st PST.

How soon will you be able to get these made and sent? Is March 31st the day you'll tell the manufacturer to start production? If so, that would be 2-4 weeks from that point correct?

We put in a request for the run two weeks ago, and they estimated 3-5 weeks. It may be sooner than that but they wanted to give us a conservative estimate. It will take another week for finishing once we get them. We should be shipping early next month .

I know you used to offer this a raw finish option, but I do not see it on your site. Is this still something I could get? That would also get it shipped out quicker :P
