This is the first pair to be test fitted on a car, minor work left before they are complete.

Please note on this Ganador the mirror base is the one I made, the outer piece is a real ganador mirror housing.

I never realized that the Ganador mirrors don't actually *replace* the side triangle, but rather mount on top of it. Are there any other mirrors that do this? IIRC, Knightsport & RE-A use the OEM mounting that the triangles use, right?

Hello!
Good that you brought this topic up! All these JDM aftermarket side mirrors use stock mounting holes for the mirrors to mount and most of them do cover the side triangle. Only craft square mirrors mount where the side triangle is.
My mirrors will also be the same, mounting on stock holes.
I will also take special orders if someone wants them mounted in the side triangle in case the stock holes in the doors have been covered up.

Thanks,
Fahad

Question: Does anyone know why the mirror base on the ganadors mirrors aren't symmetrical?

rotary_rob 10-21-18 09:12 PM

probably due to them being rhd angled so the driver can see better not the same angle for us hence the glass change

I'm not sure about that, both mirrors sit at the same angle but there is a difference in the base.

I think you're onto something.

Well, ALL Ganador mirrors are identical after the mount. Civic, 240SX, Supra - doesn't matter. The motors, glass, housings are all the same. It's the bases that are vehicle specific and it makes sense that the bases are where you are going to increase or decrease viewing angle for LHD / RHD vehicles.

I'm not sure if you've ever driven a LHD car with RHD mirrors - but you're all but blind. 100% form over function.

...not that it stops people from installing them. ;)

Yes all mirror housings are same, some need slight modification though. The mirrors angle look the same on both sides but I can try flipping the bases and see if they improve the viewing angle. Have driven a lhd car only once but with lhd mirrors :) I know a guy who has a lhd 7 will probably ask him if I can try on his car.

rotary_rob 10-23-18 07:30 PM

I suggest doing this on a lhd car because 95% of the people interested in this group buy have lhd cars

This is very true.

I have a RHD and still interested. Ganadors were made for RHD to begin with

Ganador on LHD

A friend recently installed Ganador on his LHD.
No modification to them, at the exception of blue lenses maybe ?
(no idea if the lenses is aftermarket ?)
anyways.

They were made for RHD vehicules
his comments were : they definitely reduce visibility compare to OEM mirrors
The Broadway rearview mirror is almost a must when installing the Ganador
Also some modification is needed to angle the right side mirror because it will stick out of the housing to get the right view angle (for LHD)

here is a picturs mounted on LHD

https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...a7ec1b0fc.jpeg
LHS mirror fits nicely, the mirror doesn’t need to pivot much to get to the appropriate angle. It does seat a little off but it is not sticking out of the housing.
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...a892afd4e.jpeg
I think a little bit of material needs to be removed from this edge so the mirror as a perfect seating angle. Not much.

in regards of the RHS on a LHD car , it’s a different story..

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...d7303223b.jpeg
As you can see , the mirror need to be move a lot to get the proper angle , enough to stick out of the housing...enough that , water , debris , insect could get inside
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx7...c1e2e6656.jpeg
Not much but , it is there...

hope this helps :)

True. But they are also still available - just expensive.

LHD aren’t available - so if these were made for LHD it’s be a truly new product.

Trying to make LHD mirror bases now but no guarantees on them. I'm still working out the perfect angle to place the motors so the mirror glass could provide a good view.

fzkhan7 10-29-18 02:26 AM

Thanks for the pictures!

Question for all the ones who are using Ganadors on LHD Cars.

From what I know the LHS (Driver Mirror) is fine and viewing is not a problem from that mirror but the real problem is the Passenger Mirror (RHS) where you have to lean to the side to get a proper view.
So does the mirror have to be angled outwards or inwards to provide a better viewing angle.

I'll be making one pair of LHD Mirror bases to see if it solves the problem. I'll be posting it here and would need someone to check them on their car, if it solves the problem I'll probably have the mirror bases for sale too if someone needs them for their authentic ganadors.

Will also have a GB for Convex Ganador Mirror Glasses which should also fix the problem.

This progress is getting me very excited!
So the modified base is a must for this, or if you can recess the mirror into housing so the edge wont stick out.
1. On a RHD the drivers mirror can be near 90 degrees from the body to allow viewing easily, and the passenger side would be acute and turned in towards the body so say 75-80 degrees.
2. my recommendation take a straight edge (touch the glass and the mirror outer most point) and measure the distance from the base of the mirror to the straight edge, then compare left and right.
You would just need to flip the angles to make it work. My only fear of modifying the mirror base is making it look unsymmetrical from the outside. I would be careful that the angles look correct.

or get a RC car camber tool

There is not much which can be done with the mirror housing very little space in it. All the work which is required to fix viewing angle for LHD Cars has to be done in the mirror base.

Mirror Bases are already unsymmetrical from the outside if you look very closely. My guy made mirror bases in fiberglass so we can work on the viewing angle for LHD Cars. Will post again once there is progress.

If anyone wants Ganador replicas for RHD Cars I'll have them ready soon...

Any update?

Montego 11-27-18 01:37 PM

I've always liked Ganadors but the lack of function killed it for me :(. So if you can solve the view problem by re-engineering the base, I believe you will have a very marketable product.

The hold up on the mirrors is because I'm re doing the mirror bases for LHD FD's. Once they are ready I'll be posting them.

7krayziboi 11-29-18 12:00 PM

I was thinking about that and wouldn’t it be easier (cheaper/time consuming) to have angle mirrors made.

RHD/LHD housing would be the same
opening up market for you..

And easily “swapable”

Yep, GrandMighty did this and sold his spares via FinalForm. if I recall correctly.

That's not a proper fix for LHD FD's convex mirrors do provide a better viewing angle then the original ones, I tried getting convex mirrors made here but there is no one who does it so I had to fix the mirror base and angle them properly for LHD FD's.
