Dual 90mm Headlight Kit Available - 2nd Run!

Hey Everyone!

After some good feedback from initial customers, the RS Engineering Dual 90mm Headlight Kit is in its second limited run and once again available at our online store. We've made tweaks to the design to improve the fit and are extending the original $299 pricing which includes the plug and play wiring harness. The kit is also available complete with all four DOT approved Hella 90mm lights for $599. A special harness upgrade that allows low and high beams to run simultaneously is an additional $39.

Some quick highlights from the product page:

* Huge increase in light output, better than OEM and most kits
* Uses modern DOT beams with a sharp cutoff that won't blind other drivers
* Retains factory look and lines
* Uses genuine carbon fiber trim panels (not laminated plastic)
* Strong, computer cut aluminum and stainless steel brackets
* No leaky, foggy, scratched, or yellowed plastic lenses
* Fully weatherproof
* Fully and independently adjustable from the outside
* No cutting of the unibody—fully reversible!
* Wiring harnesses plug directly into the car
* Option to run low and high beams simultaneously (requires upgraded wiring harness)

These kits are available for order immediately and will ship within one week. See below for pictures of the installed kit. Please note that this kit does require modification of the OEM headlight frames but is completely reversible and does not require cutting any of the unibody. In addition the lights are fully and independently adjustable. Please see the original product launch thread for more details! These kits will dramatically improve the lighting performance using environmentally sealed and DOT approved beams at a very reasonable cost.

Just like our popular and effective Anti Surge System our products are designed to augment the driving capabilities of the FD. We spend a lot of time tweaking our designs to get the best performance and fit possible.

Please note: for international customers, this kit is fully compatible with the ECE versions of the Hella 90mm headlights. We recommend that you source the lights locally but we can provide assistance upon request.

If you are interested in ordering, the kit is available now at the RS Engineering website!

Okay, pics of the kit:

PS: I wanted to send a special thank to our pilot customers who dealt with a number of delays on our side. Thanks for your understanding and patience!

Thanks for the comments! Our little test car has been good to us, and it's nice to be able to test our components on the street and track at very high power levels. (The car recently dynoed at 530HP at the rear wheels.)

In terms of a sleepy eye kit, I think it's a good idea to review David Hayes' thread on the subject. He did a really nice conversion. There was a lot of custom work including extensive modification of the headlight assembly and motor crank system. In addition, he molded custom fiberglass trim panels to replace the factory ones. He also used the very small (and quite pricey) Hella HID capsules for the low beams. I think it's a fantastic conversion, but it's a lot of work and at the high end of the price range. I continue to look into this but I haven't found a solution yet that is as well done as David's at a price point that makes sense to most enthusiasts.

Of course, there are other sleepy eye kits out there. They vary widely in quality, and most of them do not deal with properly securing the lights in their "up" position. This leads to a lot of motion and vibration being transferred to the light pattern with is really annoying and can also be a safety hazard or cause for the police to pull you over. In addition, almost all of them use non DOT-approved lights which have poor light output and dangerous patterns. The nice thing about the Hella 90mm is they are highly functional and legal. But they don't lend themselves to a sleepy eye setup unless you are willing to do some really major modifications.

I understand this kit isn't for everyone, and there are days that I really like the sleepy eye look to. The kit offered here is one that retains the classic lines of the factory pop up and offers a big upgrade to the lighting performance of the FD. In cars as fast and nimble as ours, this is a really good thing.

Damn, I'm nearly finished with getting my car running and this is the kit I wanted. I've already got the Hella 90mm lights from a kit I had on my FC...

Any chance you would do a limited run of these?

Thanks,
Vince
