Digital Stepper Tachometer Replacement

Hey everyone! for about 6 months ive been developing a digital tach replacement for a few reasons. one, I repair FD clusters and spare parts are pretty difficult to come by and if the air core analog motors are destroyed theres no other options. I probably have the largest supply of spare parts in the USA at least and even still when theyre gone theyre gone. The second reason is if you want something to display a higher than standard OEM rev count, there's very limited options with the oem tach motor having about a 270* sweep and cumbersome registration. So part of this project will be to supply aftermarket gauge faces as well.

But finally i have a working prototype that is ready for in vehicle testing. the gauge motors used are from GM gauge clusters and are stepper motors by design. this means i can vary accurately calibrate them and they can be used to sweep across a 14,000 or more gauge face! The final product will be on its own printed circuit board and draw the signals through the screws on the back of the gauge cluster in OEM fashion for an easy drop in replacement unit. Anyway check it out.

Interesting! I am having some issues with my cluster. If a capacitor check (and replacement?) plus cleanup doesn't do it I would definitely be interested in this. Will it be a drop-in replacement or will there be some additional work involved for a stock-type car?
