Defined Autoworks 4-rotor kit group buy!

Finally after much development we are proud to announce our 4 rotor kit group buy!

Never before has a company based in the U.S. offered such a service. I have already kick started the process and have enough of the complex parts on the shelf to build 4 sets of 4-rotor engines.

Why go with Defined Autoworks?

My personal 4-rotor has been running flawlessly while being beaten on the racetrack at over 10,000rpm without skipping a beat. Making over 610rwhp (720+hp) its currently one of the highest documented 4-rotors naturally aspirated.

Why go to a place that has never even built a 4-rotor? Why go to a place that has never even raced and tested a 4 rotor sucessfully? Those are the good questions to ask.

The infamous build video-

Being in the U.S. gains another massive advantage, no more shipping of your valuable parts overseas. Shipping round trip of four cast iron housings is over $2500.

This cost is saved and the risk of damage or customs withholding your parts eliminated.

4-rotors are complex machines, and the undertaking not for the faint of heart. I'm sure there will be many questions and I welcome all to help explain what is being offered or what else is needed. Anyone involved in this group buy will get technical support from me personally. While this is not a unlimited amount of time, I will assist in the general assembly or advice from my years building multi rotor motors.

Additional items to compliment the 4-rotor kits-

We are a one stop shop. I build and fabricate custom drysump kits that will out-flow the mazda comp units. The regulator is externally adjustable and the length of the engine is reduced.

Also offered is fully cnc made slide throttle setup. Provides the best power and flow of any intake. Fully roller bearing supported and reliable.

Lastly if anyone wants other 4-rotor parts, such as full p-port housings or lightened rotors, anything can be provided from A-Z. Full builds and complete engines are no issue.

Only part not in stock is the 4-rotor eccentric shaft due to the cost. Wait for this item is 2-6 months.

4-rotor kit pricing-

2 person group buy $9200
3 person group buy $8700
4 person group buy $8200
5 person group buy $7700
6+ person group buy $7500

Things needed to be sent in-

Two front stationary gears, One 86+ front counterweight, Two intermediate irons to be modified, will need front and rear cast iron plate for center line machining.

Slide throttle assembly pricing-

2 person group buy $3900
3 person group buy $3400
4+ person group buy $3000

Defined Auto Competition drysump setup

2 person group buy $5000
3 person group buy $4800
4+ person group buy $4200

This is awesome, I wonder how much it would be for a turn key option, I'm just dreaming for now.

Damn... Killing me with that.

How does the motor mounts typically work out?
Not really thinking of this for my FD but maybe for my rx8

Since the 4 rotor has no "default" configuration, the sky is the limit if planned ahead on mounting. A first gen front cover can be used for motor plate style, fc center irons can be used and gain three possible positions to mount on the side/bottom of the engine, or Fd rear iron in place and utilize rear bottom mount. Lastly if using Re rear and last center side Mount identical to 20b can be used. I can machine Fd irons to use 20b bolt patterns as well

I have to trust that this would not make him famous (IMO). Knowing David (not as well as i'd like), it seems that a lot of his "fame" was a result of being screwed not once but twice. I will say his dedication has maintained his fame. but i hope no one ever has to gain fame the way he did!

(This is not meant to be negative, or sarcastic or condescending. But rather point out that i have heard nothing but positive about defined!)

^ Only screwed twice Dan? I'd say it was a lot more than that

Would like to be known for an awesome Defined 4 rotor build and I would jump all over this if money were available. The wife unit would shoot me if I did this right now and she'd be right to do it!

I would not hesitate to take my car to Defined. Logan's work and craftsmanship is at the top of the industry.

Definitely understand where your response came from. David is one of the few that took negative situation and made it positive famous one. Not to mention all the while creating contributions and becoming a staple to the Rx7 community. Grace under fire always demands respect.

Thank You sir, always appreciated. 4 rotor in baby steps might fly below the radar Plus if I had to guess Gordon is toying with the idea of a 4 rotor supercar since it is right up his alley. Can't let him have all the fun!

Looks like two are signed up, if Lenny joins that would leave 3 more needed to get in the $7500 price point. Quite a few are asking for identity to be anonymous so nobody will see the build thread coming, understandable since these typically take a bit of time to complete!

Here is a pic of the Defined 4-rotor using the same parts from the group buy. Helps clear up exactly what it looks like together (although a bit of a fancy trim)

I will post full measurements as well to help anyone trying to see how one of these badboys would fit their chassis.

Okay so I'm really contemplating this. So this would be for parts to build a block? Or would the price be for an assembled block?
I know all the other stuff such as slide throttle, intake, ecu, etc is extra. I'm just seeing what the kit entails..
Looks like we supply the rotors and housings correct?

Why are there 3 crank angle sensors? Are you changing more than one ecu together so it'll work on a 4 rotor?

The kit supplies all the custom 4 rotor parts needed. Remaining parts required are standard 2 rotor items. To build the complete engine here is a list-

Front center and rear irons (two additional irons are sent in to Defined)

Front and rear stat gears
4 rotors
4 rotor housings
2 x 13b gaskets sets
2 x 13b apex seal kits
2 x 13b complete spring sets
2x 13b oil control rings and seals
Front cover.
Balancing is mandatory
Stock oil pump can be used but only to limited rpm. Drysump is needed if over 7000 rpm

That was early on, my 4 rotor with the triple spark plugs per housing needed 3 Electromotive ecus. Later I found one trig sensor could run all three at once.

Cool. So it's running with a single TEC3R? I didn't think it could do it.
