I ended up buying another OEM one, but if I might make a humble suggestion about the gauge hood: you don't need to re-invent the wheel. Mazda no longer sells it separate from the gauge surround. Simply having a replica of the original complete with clips would still be an immense gift to the FD3S community. I admire all the work going in to the magnet idea, but speaking for myself the magnets were never a big draw for me. Driving around without a smashed AF gauge hood was the draw. What do you think?

I suspect, on balance, a simple gauge hood recreation would be wildly and immensely popular. Hell, I'd buy one just to mess with.
