Lol yessss! Jk. I agree with Matt though. Something more flush that covers the ring. I personally was thinking of a plug that removes the whole assembly. I've had two FDs and both had that black outer most ring broken/loose on the lighter. Not sure how complicated it would be to make though.

Btw I just installed my cruse blank switch. This is quality stuff here! Very happy

RX7-RR 09-29-15 05:45 PM

subscribing! yes definitely do the cigarette light hole. Something that replaces the whole thing. The orange cracks and make that whole assemble want to fall out.

We'll offer an "eject" option and a blank option when we make them.

I think the full delete would be nice, my concern is how many people feel comfortable pulling everything out and replacing it vs. the people who just want a plug so they can still use it if need be.

I'm glad you're happy! We've received fantastic responses so far, and the plan is to keep developing parts at the same level of quality, if not higher.

While I wait for some supplies to arrive I started working on the front "door triangles" that people keep asking for. The only issue I have are the clips that hold them in place... I don't really know how to make those.
I have clip from my broken pieces, but not everybody will have them. Here's the print:

Could it be a plug - but wider to cover the outer orange ring?

rlee429 09-30-15 04:00 PM

Door triangles? Maybe modify the design to accept magnets?

For the visor dowl I believe you can reduce the inner diameter (making the part thicker) could help them "clicking/glue" together. Or maybe instead of a through circular hole inner diameter, make it square. If you noticed there is a slight gap between the sunvsor and dowl.

Yes, I'll see what I can do with that.

I'm not sure it would work well with magnets, given it's orientation and location. Plus, I'd want it to secure as well as the OEM unit does.

I think it's possible to just glue the two halves to the visor, and to each other, for a secure fit. I have a functional prototype, I'd just like to dial them in a little bit better.

GoodfellaFD3S 09-30-15 04:32 PM

Good stuff going on here :)

Just FYI, not a bad idea to check with Ray at Malloy on some pieces to confirm they're NLA.

For example, I recently got the small inner door triangles from him, and IIRC the new OEM mazda pieces were like 16-17$ each.

Heedlessone 09-30-15 04:45 PM

Thanks, Goodfella, I just sent him an email.

nguybao 10-03-15 04:50 PM

I agree with removing the cigarette lighter completely. Orange ring is notorious for breaking and making the assembly rattle.

Monkman33 10-12-15 11:24 PM

The door triangles are still available for $50 per pair. How much less are yours going to be?

Heedlessone 10-13-15 09:59 AM

If the parts are still available, especially if they're inexpensive, it doesn't make sense for us to reproduce them. We'd rather make parts that are NLA.

We've been working away on the cluster hood. I'll post some update in the next couple days.

Monkman33 10-13-15 11:49 AM

But I am sure the door triangles will eventually be NLA, so having the design ready to go would not hurt you since it appears you have made significant progress.

7krayziboi 10-13-15 01:20 PM

What is also nice is that its a part that is not exclusive to LHD car

Heedlessone 10-13-15 02:10 PM

Exactly. We have them ready should the need ever arise.

wthx100 10-17-15 12:45 AM

How about the Inner Door pull? Mine is cracked.

Heedlessone 10-20-15 12:04 PM

The actual handle that you pull on, or the bucket that everything sits in? The bucket seems to be a high interest item.

Donthitme 10-20-15 01:20 PM

What happened to the cluster?

Working on it. It's quite the piece to reproduce.

Anything come of the cig lighter plug/cover? Interested in snagging one up if made.

MazdaspeedR1 11-06-15 08:17 PM

We really need the steering column cover remade big time.

Hello!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been out of the office for the past couple of weeks. We have a few prototypes of the cigarette lighter plugs - we came up with a couple of different styles.

We've also been working on USB pass-through switches for BMW, so that has consumed some of our time. Good news with that, is we have all of the components to make OEM style replacements for the RX7, as well. In the near future we'll be releasing some design photos. Here's what the BMW switch looks like, just for a rough idea of how we put it together:

Cluster hood is still in the works - it's an annoying part to reproduce so bear with us on that.

:eek::bowdown:
Wow. A pass thru like that would be killer.

What are you thinking to replace? One of the switch blanks?
