I know Ericsworld was interested early in the process. But with the custom radiator setups (Samberg), the hood props are actually rendered useless/removed.

So I don't know if it's too late for this, but, photo, if you get in on this for $80, I'll make up the two left over.

I don't have that many FDs, but I'll do it for the good of the group. I can probably give them away or sell them later.

payment sent! I was just about to give up on it too haha. Wasn't in that bad of need for one of these, but what the heck, eh? Get a cool new prop and help out the GB at the same time (not as much as you, tho!! that's pretty cool of you to do that).

Hey guys!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say...

[argonbubble] FD3S Titanium Hood Prop - OFFICIAL GROUP BUY-hyp7xaw.gif
"WE DID IT"!

First - a big thank you to everyone that got on board. Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU. These things aren't easy to organize and everyone involved has been very responsive and a pleasure to deal with.

Second - I'm so glad we reached our goal. We really, really wanted this first run to be the absolute best deal on these, and at $80 (refunds will be en route today) it will be.

Third - Some of you may have already started receiving tracking info. If it hasn't gone live yet - DON'T WORRY. We just wanted to try and get some of the packing done over the weekend in preparation for shipping this week.

We still have some hood props to heat treat, so we're going to aim to have every order shipped be the end of the week. We also have some accounting to do, but everyone should see refunds today (well, they should be processed today, but not sure how long PayPal will take to get you the money).

The final run down looked like this:

1. MattGold [PAID +Hardware Pack]
2. rlee429 [PAID]
3. texasturboII [PAID]
4. Brody8877 [PAID +Hardware Pack]
5. tbkonwso [PAID +Hardware Pack]
6. DaleClark [PAID]
7. Sephek [PAID]
8. TomU [PAID +Hardware Pack]
9. Narfle [PAID +Hardware Pack]
10. rotaryfdtt [PAID +Hardware Pack]
11. RE-Mamamia [PAID]
12. GS+ [PAID +Hardware Pack]
13. Timexlost [PAID +Hardware Pack]
14-16. KoalaFD [PAID x3]
17. Taz [PAID +Hardware Pack +PR Shipping]
18. Newdesides [PAID +Hardware Pack +Canada Shipping]
19. Davin [PAID +Hardware Pack]
20. TurboJeff [PAID]
21. REsuper7 [PAID +Hardware Pack]
22. Tournapart [PAID +Hardware Pack]
23. Scaggs [Invoice Sent]
24. Taiman [PAID +Hardware Pack]
25. photoresistor [PAID +Hardware Pack]
26. rarotary [PAID +Hardware Pack]
27.
28.
29.
30.

We're going to do something a little different with this from here on out. If ANYONE is still interested in getting a Titanium Hood Prop, we going to leave the Group Buy open until the end of the month (February 29th) AT THE GROUP BUY PRICE OF $80! From there on out, they'll only be available on the Argon Bubble website. If anyone was on the fence, now is the time to get on board.

Hey guys!

Great News! Everything is done, boxed and ready to roll!

Everyone should have tracking numbers in their e-mail box - but if not - PLEASE feel free to PM or e-mail us.

All Titanium Hood Props should ship today and take 2-3 days to reach everyone (except international orders).

The only two exceptions to this are rarotary and wazway - we ran out of hardware kits for you
... But more are en route!

One more big THANK YOU to everyone that got involved.

If anyone is sitting on the fence, get those orders in! Group Buy pricing expires 2/29/2016.

Got mine! USPS smashed my box somehow (look like a guy stomped it).

The prop's foam wrapping was perfect, no scruff marks at all and I wasn't worried at all about it being damaged. For a second I thought the prop fell out, but nope it's just that light.

Already installed too. Didn't realize how heavy the stock one felt... If any of you guys work out you most likely won't notice the difference, but for a coach potato like me...

To install:
1. Grab something to prop your hood open with, or use your shoulder(dirty shirt).
2. Use a pocket knife or your girly finger nails to pry open the hood-prop-swivel clip from around the base of the prop, there are two layers.
3. Once open, you can slide the rod-end out of swivel clip.
3.1 If you got the hardware pack, you can remove the swivel clip once the rod is out. You can put the new clip back in its place.
4. Insert your titanium hood prop into the open clip.
5. Snap the swivel clip shut, there are two layers.
6. If you got the hadware pack, use some skinny long nose pliers to clamp on the bottom of the other prop clip from the side of the headlight. Once clamped you should be able to pull it up and remove it.
7. Insert new prop-stay-clip
8. Take the rubber bushings off the old hood rod and put them on your new one, if you want. They slide on either way with a little patience, wd40 would help too. They're to stop it from banging into the stock intake plastics which you may or may not have.

Got mine as well.

First off, it's a beautiful part. I think that they're each hand bent but they follow the stock rod bends perfectly and install as easily. Took me about a 45 seconds and I'm slow.

Since I'm a cyclist and a "weight weenie" at that, I put the prop rods on a scale.

Titanium one weighed 205gm.
Stock one weighed 373gm.

That's a 45% weight savings! Ok it's really only 168 grams, which is like 0.37 lbs.
Came with some sweet stickers too.

I installed both burnt and polished if anyone out there is still undecided on what color to get. Both are really nice in different ways.

Do you need this part? No.
Do you want this part? Most definitely.

Hey guys,

I know it gets thrown around a lot... and I've only really experienced it a few times in my life. But we are truly humbled. I can't express how happy we are that YOU are happy with the product.

I also really, really appreciate the install guide there Narfle - truly above and beyond.

I got mine yesterday and installed it in seconds. It really looks great, I had the stock one chromed so I didn't think I needed this from a looks standpoint. The Ti looks much better than the stock one chromed, I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it.

Thanks for making them!

Hey guys,

Just a quick heads up!

The Hardware Packs from now on will ONLY include FD01-56-642 & G144-52-518C (#7 & #12 on the diagram). We have completely bought out Mazda's stock in the US. They will also cost $2 less. However, we are trying to get custom rubber spacers made to spec and include them in future shipments.

The good news is: you CAN move these over from your existing rod very easily. The true wear and tear parts are still available and included.

Installed my prop the other day... looks so much better than my beat up stocker! It really seems to match the stock one well.

I do have a small issue with using mine with my setup.. I have a non-stock hood (carbon fiber vented one) and the titanium prop won't fit into the cut-out to securely hold it up. It looks like maybe my original stock prop was modified so the length of the last 90 degree section was made shorter so it would fit my modified setup. Any idea on how hard it would be to machine or grind down your titanium prop a little? i've no experience with titanium.. I was thinking of just opening up the slot in the hood a little, but I found a little wear spot on the hood from the original prop when it is in its down position (it was like this before I put on the titanium one) so I think it would be best to shorten it.

Glad it showed up and you like it... bummer on the aftermarket hood.

Grinding or machining really shouldn't be much different then any other metal you've worked with. If you're cutting, use a carbide wheel. If you're grinding, use aluminum oxide. Both of which are readily available in Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

That said, do you think just clearance the hood a tad might be a better answer? Maybe even add a little foam for protection on the underside?
